Need help with info regarding rehab centers in Nassau
We're trying to pick a rehab center for my mother. She has some challenges, which limits her options. However, right now we're deciding between A. Holly Patterson in Uniondale, Excel at Woodbury (used to be woodbury center for health care), and Park Avenue Extended Care in Long Beach. Does anyone have any experiences/opinions regarding these places. She needs a lot of physical therapy, and she needs a place that's very quick in responding when she needs to go to the bathroom. Thanks!

What is the extent of her injury or disability?
Did she have a stroke? A TBI?
Is she just aging and experiencing setbacks as a result?

She has a type of cancer called Multiple Myeloma. Her latest cancer medication, along with a bad fall, did a number on her body. So she can't get in or out of bed without help, and walks using a walker. She needs to be physically stronger to go home and withstand more chemo.

OK, I have experience with one place but in regards to TBI patients -- and the doc that specializes in TBI recovery has hours there and oversees patients there so it would be good but only for a patient in that particular situation.
Sorry I don't have more information pertaining to her situation... prayers to you, her, and your family.

I never knew anyone to have a good experience at Holly P, but you should visit each, walk around and get feel for the center. Look at the residents, see how they look, how does the place smell etc.
also ask, if my mothers condition progresses and her physical condition gets worse how will this center be able to accommodate her.
it is very important if she plans on being their long term to think long term and not just in the next few months.
what is the RN / pt ratio
what is the aid/pt ratio
do they shower everyday
look at the grounds
where ever you decide pop in, never visit on the same day or time of the day. It helps keep staff on their toes
\Question, woodbury is that part of white oaks the family owned place on Jericho turnpike? my grandma was there and we were happy but that was about 7 years ago
