allergist recommendations needed
DS is almost 4. He receives a variety of services through CPSE and before that, EI. His cognitive scores are all within the average range, but his behaviors are off the charts at home. We do think it might be ADHD, but neurologist says it is too young to diagnose. I have explored so many avenues to help him and am now wondering is what he is eating affecting his behavior? I would like an in depth allergy screen done. Can anyone recommend one? I am in the Huntington area, but will travel for someone good. Would appreciate any insight on this and any recommendations for an allergist. Thanks!

Re: allergist recommendations needed
Dr Strauss, came highly recommended to us.
I also want to add that I know many special Ed teachers who swear that gluten and food dyes affect behavior tremendously. It affects all kids really, but especially those with ADHD, a gluten free diet is very often used to treat behavior issues. Might be worth looking into.

We have seen Dr. Bruce Edwards in Plainview, who we liked. But I'm considering switching to Dr. Strauss. We haven't seen him yet, but he came highly recommended. Plus we recently moved, so he is closer for us now too since he is in Commack I believe.

Re: allergist recommendations needed
We took DS to Strauss as well, to confirm a milk allergy (he outgrew it by 2 years old).
ETA we also recently found out that DS most likely has celiac disease through bloodwork ordered by a pediatric GI. His teacher said that his behavior at school has changed around so much within the past few weeks. I started him on a daily probiotic a month ago, and so far he has been gluten free for 2 weeks.

allergist recommendations needed
Although I love Dr. Strauss, I don't care for his PA (or NP, I'm not sure which). She basically told me my 10 month old was allergic to peanuts and gave me a scrip for an epi pen and sent me on my way. No offer for educational materials, no sensitivity to the fact that she just told me that my infant has a life threatening allergy. We followed up with Dr. Strauss and he was much more supportive and informative.

I agree with Dr, Strauss. We just saw him for the first time on Wednesday. DD apparently has a sesame allergy. He was wonderful!! The office in Commack was great and it was super fast.
