Potty Traning HELP!!
HI- My almost 3.5 year old is still not potty trained. We started months ago and have had zero success.
The latest issue we are having is she is now holding her pee for over 15+ hours everyday waiting to get in the tub to pee.
Trust me when I tell you we have tried ANHYTING AND EVERYTHING..
My questions is, has anyone else experienced their child holding in their urine for this long?
I will also add we have been to the pediatric urologist several times and everything looks fine but after our last visit they said if she keeps this up for the next few weeks they will insert a catheter with a video camera to see inside. I am trying to resolve this before it gets to that bc she will be traumatized and never pee again if she has to get a cath.
HELP PLEASE!!

Potty Traning HELP!!
When I tried the 3 day method dd started holding it and went at least 12 hours. I just stopped at that point bc I figured she wasn't ready. Even back in diapers she was holding it for a few days. We stopped talking about the potty at all for a few months to ry to undo all that. After months she finally has been willing to try but she still has a strong bladder and only pees maybe 3 times a day and has only gone in the potty once. I was doing some research yesterday and read that the more they hold it the walls of the bladder can thicken making it easier for them to hold it long periods but it can lead to issues down the road. I've been letting her play with water while she sits on the potty, trying to be silly to get her to relax, even putting her feet in warm water. I know when dd was resisting there was no reasoning or bribing that would make her willing to try, we just waited her out until she was willing to try. The one thing that helped was talking up any new things she was able to do (like going down a big slide by herself) to build her confidence and make trying something new less scary. We also got a new potty seat with steps attached so she could climb up herself and the seat doesn't slide around and she's much more comfortable.

Re: Potty Traning HELP!!
Is she in a diaper? If not, I'd put her in one asap or at least a pull-up. I would forget about potty training for now.
Will she drink? What about giving her tons of drinks, ice-pops, etc? I wouldn't even mention peeing to her (she has to do it on her terms or she will continue to hold it). The weather should hopefully warm up soon. Just thinking if she could play outside in water and even in a kiddie pool (since she likes to wait to pee in the tub) that may help to relax her to go. Doesn't seem she like has a problem but sounds like she is trying to control the situation which is very common.
Good luck! Hang in there!

Re: Potty Traning HELP!!
She even holds it if she's in a diaper or pull-up now. The urologist said to keep her in panties since she's not peeing in the diaper or pull up either. I backed off asking her if she has to go and if I do ask her she just says "no thank u" I think I'm just going to put everything away and not even mention the potty and see what that does. She's on UTI prevention medicine thankfully so she wont get a UTI. They put her on that bc of how long she was holding it.
Today was one of those days where I finally just burst into tears bc I cant take much more of this.
