fiberglass vs steel door
we were going to purchase a new front door, fiberglass. we saw reviews on line at homedepot and lowes about warping fiberglass doors due to sun exposure. we have a lot of afternoon sun. a siding installer told us because of the heat to purchase a steel door. at the store they said we can get a fiberglass door as long as we get a storm door that is Low E. Any installers out there with some insight. thanks.

Re: fiberglass vs steel door
I've had a fiberglass front door facing South for 7 years now, and zero warping. I also have some steel doors in my basement and back of the house that are starting to rust... There's positives and negatives to all types of doors.

Re: fiberglass vs steel door
I have a fiberglass door, and my door gets slammed with sun from noon till sunset. My door warped, front basically started lifted up, a kick plate fixed it, but that wasn't enough for DH, he found our Lowe's receipt, at the time we purchased the door 7 yrs prior. But bc it had a 10 yr warranty, a Pella rep came to investigate and two weeks later they arrived with a brand new door exactly like my door. They removed the old door and put up the new door. Didnt cost me a dime, other than tipping the Pella guys for their time installing the new door. Now the new door has. 10 yr warranty too.

fiberglass vs steel door
We just replaced our front door with fiberglass door. When we asked the difference between steel and fiberglass, the sales person told us that steel door is more likely to dent than a fiberglass door.
