Tell about your favorite things in Farmingdale
DH and I just moved back to LI after living in Cali for 3 years and are in contract on our very first home, in Farmingdale. We are hoping to close in the next3 weeks. Tell me about your favorite restaurants, things to do etc. I grew up not too far away in Bay Shore but don't know much about the ins and outs of Farmingdale. We have a dog who we like to take every where with us ( as this was an option in Cali). Are there places with outdoor dining we can take the dog with us?

Farmingdale has a Main Street with various shops, restaurants, and bars.
I like Bellagio and Suburban Eats (though I think this address may technically be Melville).

Tell about your favorite things in Farmingdale
I live in Farmingdale and love it! My neighbors are the nicest people and the town has a definite community vibe. I love walking down Main Street when the weather is nice and there are lots of parks close by with some great playgrounds (not sure if you have kids or not). Unfortunately Long Island in general is not nearly as dog friendly as Cali, so I'm still working on trying to find places where we can go as a family with our dog. Some of the state parks are dog friendly and great to walk in (i.e. Belmont State Park). If you need anything, please feel free to PM me!

Thanks for the suggestions. The house we are buying is right next to Allen Park. We've read they are supposed to be doing an expansion of the park. And though the dog park got shot down, there will potentially be a mile long walking trail.
Does anyone know if you can run on the bike trail that goes through Bethpage state park? Can you walk the dog on the trail?

The trail was recently paved and I don't see why a dog couldn't go through it

Dogs are not allowed in public parks, like the one in Massapequa which leads to the Bethpage one. (cant remember name).
Dogs are allowed in the dog park in West hills and Wantagh park

Dogs are allowed on the path in Massapequa preserve. There's also a dog park in Massapequa. Both are close to farmingdale. Caracara is great.

I thought I see signs saying no dogs allowed, but if they are they should be on a lease but many people let them run loose

I thought they weren't allowed either but it must have changed recently. We went a few weeks ago and there were so many dogs and they have set up stations with bags for dog poop.

I really like Farmingdale, in in the village in walking distance to Main Street. We like to eat and hang out at The Republic, chic chi Meccas and cara cara are both good restaurants and we randomly go to Gino's pizza, dominican 4 and the village kitchen diner . Our neighbors are great and were close to the lirr. Old bethpage is close and there's things to go do in the spring and summer on the weekends.

I think there is a dog friendly area in or next to the Village Restoration in Old Bethpage.

I'm in Melville, and we used to take our dog to the dog park on Sweet Hollow Rd. Not far from Farmingdale at all.
