What to do for my 4 year old's "special day"
I'm one of those moms who takes the day off for my kids birthday (Search of the thread if you don't get that reference)
Last year we did the Cradle of Aviation museum b/c he loves planes ........I'm trying to think if something to do w/ him this year. He's pretty easy going, but while I took my older one into the city at 4, I don't think the little guy will be into it.
Any ideas? I'm in Massapequa, but I have the whole day so I'm willing to drive/train etc -
ETA - while I'd LOVE to take him to a farm or something, I am so miserable allergic to animals, and I can't afford to be sick for the whole weekend b/c I have his birthday part(ies) to contend with !!

DS turns 4 today. We went to the Bronx Zoo yesterday and he had the best time. Last night while putting him to bed he told me it had been the best day of his life. :)

How does your DS like the city?
What about taking the train in and going to TRU is Times Swquare, riding the Ferris wheel and having him pick out a gift from there (I would make this your last stop, so you don't have to lug it around).
Maybe do some fun touristy things like go to the Empire State Building, ride the double decker bus, have lunch in Central Park and ride the carousel.
My 4 year old loves to go into 'the big city'

Awwwwww - don't you love that??? I'm usually OK at the zoo b/c the animals aren't in my face .....that may be an option.

My older son (Now 6) loves the city - We've been taking him since he's a year old.
The little guy, I don't know. Maybe I'll try. He keeps asking to come to my office. I'm near the flatiron and that huge lego store - so maybe I'll do that and TRU and the M&M store ......and then meet DH for lunch. Oh god. I'll just take him to Dylan's Candy Bar - he'll be in his glory. Eh, yeah I guess the city may be my best bet as long as it doesn't rain.

Re: What to do for my 4 year old's "special day"
I didn't realize Dylan's has a cafe, with Cupcake shaped booths. - I made a reservation for lunch - I'll take him to the Lego Store by the flatiron in the morning, into the park, up to my office, and then hop the 6 up to Dylan's - He will be in his glory at that place.
He should be thoroughly exhausted by the time I get on the train home.

Re: What to do for my 4 year old's "special day"
Was also going to suggest the Bronx Zoo. We've done that before.
Recently during the boy's Spring Break DH took a day off and we went to Crayola Factory. Got their when it opened and boys had a blast! We really did have a lot of fun. If the kids love art and coloring they'll have fun bc there's a lot to do. We also did the city day trip too, but I know you go a lot so figured the boys have been there before.
Maybe Great Adventure? Sesame Place?
We have season passes to GA bc we're only about 15 - 20 mins away so worth it, but if you get a good coupon the kids will have a blast. Ton of kids rides and never a line for that.
