Spinoff to what you like about your workplace - for all the teachers
I know there are a number of teachers on this board...just wondering what kinds of things would make you want to stay at a school. I'm sure raises are great but what about the little extras or things that bring a sense of community?? Clearly you can't work from home or have early dismissal before a holiday...anything your schools do that you love?

Spinoff to what you like about your workplace - for all the teachers
I loved my old school. The sense of community was amazing. The students were really invested in their teachers even if they weren't the best students. I really felt like my boss wanted me to grow professionally and challenged me to be a better teacher.
My new school is big and often feels impersonable.

Def sense of a community. I am in a catholic school and while the pay totally sucks, ewe really are like family....teachers, parents, and students.

THIS is huge!!!!
We have an awesome holiday pot luck before the holidays and have left overs for days,
We have a staff bbq sometime in June
They support us thinking outside of the box, they support art, they support us doing enriching things with the children.
We have a garden growing so it's nice to walk up to the building and see flowers and plants
They know the kids...like pretty much every kid is known to the administration.
The staff is pretty small and while there are petty arguments, everyone cares for each other and helps.
The population also helps. We have supportive parents, too. Parents who value education and support teachers are vital!

I work with an amazingly dedicated staff. And while our principal sucks, we still come together for the kids and staff all the time.
