Free kitten
Anyone interested in a 10 week old female kitten??? She's black, grey, and white. Message me if interested. I'm not sure how to add a pic but I have pics.

Re: Free kitten
I don't want to start any drama, but posting animals available for free can be very dangerous for the animal. I realize that you are posting on a board where people know each other, but any random person could create an account too.
I would suggest that you conduct a thorough background check on the adopter. Also, I would contact cat rescue groups (Courageous Cats of LI and Bobbi & the Strays, for example) to see if they are able to assist in any way.
Again, I don't want to sound rude; I'm not trying to be. I just wanted to let you know, especially if you have the kitten posted on other sites. Craigslist, for example, would be a place to avoid.
I do hope the kitten finds a home!

You took the words out of my mouth. There are HORROR stories for "free to good home". Howard stern's wife Beth has a rescue group, they do a ton of great work and are always up to foster or help cats and especially kittens https://www.facebook.com/groups/BiancasFurryFriends/?ref=ts&fref=ts
If you don't want to try them and you can't get a rescue to help, do a vet check, home check, print an application off a rescue site and have someone fill it out. I REALLY think Beth will help because she's helped me several times.
Thanks for trying to help this cat, good luck!

I agree! I was in pet supplies plus and they told me horror stories I will never forget about free kittens. They will always charge a fee for that reason. Plus background checks are crucial. I've heard offering them for free, a$$holes will take them and use them as bait for agressive dogs, etc, it's a huge problem on long island.
Please reach out to a reputable organization to find the kitten a good home so she gets on the right hands.

People scour Craigslist and collect ALL free animals and sell them to labs for like $5-$15 a piece. This happens ON LONG ISLAND. By charging even a $20 adoption fee this can help to prevent that.
Then I am not even going to get into the other sicko things people do. I am SO glad other's here are aware of the importance of an adoption fee. I cringe when I see free.
