Having work done on house-time off work?

We're having a new patio put in and they told us it could take 3-4 days. Do you think one of us should be home each day they are there?

Depends.. do they need access to the house? if so, then yes of course.

We had a patio put in, they were at our house over the course of 3 days. We met with them each morning and they knew if there were questions to call us.
Otherwise, we went to work as usual.

i would have someone there in teh morning and around the time they are leaving to make sure things are going well. as long as they dont need access to your house (inside), i dont think its necessary to take THAT MUCH time off work.

Honestly, we had our bathrooms done and it took almost 2 weeks and we both were at work all day. Maybe thats different than having work done for a few days by random people though.

Maybe we are in the minority, but we cannot take off 2 weeks of work to have work done on our house.

When we had work done in our apartment we met with the contractors in he morning before work, and they were often there when one of us got home. We were available by phone during the day if needed, and both my husband and I work around 30 minutes from home, if there was some sort of emergency.

Thanks for the input! I wasn't sure what was expected. It's all outside work so they don't need to get into the house.

For outside work, I wouldn't take time off. I would check the progress each day after I got home and take photos, though, in case something was damaged or something seems off.
