question..

So after all my testing it looks like IVF is what my RE thinks is the best option for us.
My insurance does not cover a penny of it and to be honest, we do not have the money for it and really do not want to take out a loan.
My insurance does cover unlimited IUI
My doctor does not think that will work BUT since we are covered should I try? Is it a waste of time and just figure out how to go about IVF
Any opinions would be really helpful
TIA

Re: question..

Under those circumstances, I would try IUI. You don't have anything to lose. Did your RE discuss anything else you can do to help with your IF diagnosis? Depending on the reason for your IF, there may be other things you can do to help increase your chances such as acupuncture, vitamins, supplements and so on. Good luck!

Re: question..

I would certainly try a couple iuis in your situation, at the very least you will have a better idea of how you will respond to the medication so If you do move onto ivf you will have a better shot at getting it right the first time.

Did you ask your RE? Sometimes time is of the essence and if that's the case than I personally would go for IVF. If your RE doesn't think a few cycles of IUI would be a hinderance than I would consider it.

It's personally up to you. I would try a few while You are researching the options you have for financial reasons.

I agree with this. At 35 time unfortunately isn't on your side so I would go straight to IVF be it loans which many REs offer or a package deal if you're paying OOP.

Re: question..

well im 36 and tried 3 IUI's.

If you have coverage for those, I think i'd try it. in the meanwhile getting together a plan or course of action on how to pay for IVF.

thanks everyone, I think I will call my RE to schedule the IUI and make a financial plan in the meantime.
It is def my age and my endo which is why my re suggests going straight to IVF but easier said that done when my insurace stinks

I would try a few IUIs but wouldnt' waste a whole year with them..maybe do 3 IUIs then skip to IVF. FWIW there are IVF grants out there. Ask your clinic if there are any available. Good luckChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
