Landscaper doesn't honor quote? UPDATE! So annoyed
So my landscaper emailed me that it would be $420 to mulch my property. I go forward and get charged $490. Emailed him already, but what gives? He should honor his quote, correct?
UPDATE-
Here's his response which I just got this morning through email.
I'm sorry they raised the price of the mulch this spring so I'm paying more
What?!?! Don't you know that before you do the work? And don't you inform your customer of this change before you move forward with work? I'm so angry and I don't believe I should be charged this higher amount at all. Wwyd? And how would you word a response?

Landscaper doesn't honor quote?
Absolutely! I would only pay the $420. If the quote was revised because the job was bigger than expected, the landscaper should have documented that somewhere so that it was in writing.

Right, that's what I would figure. This is his original email.
Good morning to install black mulch on your property is $420
I was hesitant to use him at that price and now he charges $490? I'm pissed!

i would say I'm paying you our agreed upon price. next time tell your customers the price is higher before you pay. and then find a new landscaper

I would only pay the $420. What's the point of giving/getting a quote if he's going to charge whatever he wants anyway?
And he could have at least gone to you for approval if it was going to be more $$.

I would absolutely NOT pay the difference. That is ridiculous, and like another poster said, would defeat the purpose of getting a quote!
