boy name Alexander...
Do you know any Alexanders who go by Xander? What are your thoughts/opinions? Too strange? Do half the people just call him Alex ( ie- doctors, teachers, pharmacists, would all assume it's Alex, right?). Which NN do you like better? Is Alex more of a girls NN now?

Re: boy name Alexander...
Our friends have a son that goes by Xander. He is not in school yet, but they just tell people - doctors, friends, etc that they prefer Xander.
I don't think its strange, you hear it more and more.
I personally prefer Alex and I don't think its girly at all.

I have an Alexander and we call him Alex, but I love Xander. You will likely be correcting people forever because most people automatically think Alex, though. What about just naming him Xander? I think it's a cute and unique name..

Alex can go either way with the gender of the person its for. We call my aunt, Alex. (Alexandra).
I do know someone who calls her son Xander. I like it. Then again, I am a huge Buffy fan

Alex is definitely a boy name as well as girl.
I agree that if you like Xander you should just name him that.

Re: boy name Alexander...
My boss named his son Alexander, but they exclusively call him Xander. They don't even refer to him as Alexander, and I'm not even sure he knows that's his name yet. Which in hindsight, you might as well just name him Xander...but they wanted to give him a more "professional" name if he chose to use it in the future.
