Terminex canvassing late at night...

So i just had someone from Terminex come to my home at 8:45pm to see if we would be interested in their services. The guy was wearing a uniform with the brand on it but i thought it seemed fishy that he would be working this late.

Do you think this guy really worked for Terminex or scoping out the neighborhood for future robberies?

PS- i didnt see a work van or anything nearby

I've had them come multiple times late in the evening. It seems to be their common practice. I think the idea is that they get people after they come home from work. I don't think its them casing the neighborhood.

having said that, I don't like the practice, they should cut off at some point. I never signed up, I feel its like any of those high pressure door to door sales.

It's probably legit. I have had salespeople come to my door after dark.
It aggravates me.

Having said that, I don't answer the door to anyone.

If I want to buy something, I will call you.
Don't call me.
Don't come to my door.

NOT INTERESTED.

I mean in this day and age, door to door sales should be banned. It's harassing and it disturbs my peace.
Get on the internet or something.
It's not 1950 with the door to door encyclopedia sales. Jeez

Do we live on the same block. We had a guy come to the door & linger forever. I said no thanks we have a contract w/ Arrow & he persisted. The kids were in bed, the dog was barking like a nut, & he kept standing there & was totally creepy. Happy my dh was home bc he came to the door & was like time to go buddy. Even then he lingered. Dh didnt see a van or anytning either.

This just happened to me last week and I was annoyed because I have a no solicitation sticker on my door issued from my town. The kid was college-aged and I was also suspicious that it was so late and there was no Terminex vehicle in sight. I inquired and he was from San Diego, a student at the University of Hawaii, and peddling Terminex in Farmingdale? Apparently door to door sales companies recruit young kids from all over, jam a bunch of them into a house (so their room/board is paid for), and drop them off in neighborhoods to ring doorbells (hence why no van in sight). They all get picked up by vans at certain pickup points at agreed upon times. I'm sure they are paid very little. The whole situation sounded so depressing to me.

This happened to me. I thought it was fishy too so I called their customer service line and asked if they had sales people going door to door in my neighborhood. They did. Very annoying.

I have one of the Do Not Knock signs issues from the state on my door. If someone that isn't non-profit rings my bell, they will be fined.
