how many outfits??
With DD I had a baby shower and LOTS of clothes ranging from NB-12m. I was SET. Now that a boy is on the way, I'm without all of this. No repeats since she had very little gender neutral things, and I'm not going to have another shower. I'm trying to built up our clothes supply. How many outfits for each age group should I aim for??
There's no telling how long he'll fit in NB things, so I'm trying to mostly build up my NB and 0-3M stuff with only a few bigger outfits that I'll continue to shop for later as needed. How many NB and 0-3M onesies and outfits would be a safe bet to have stored up and ready before D-Day?

Re: how many outfits??
After having a shower for #1, I had waaay too many clothes and we didn't use them all, so for #2 (different sex) we are not buying a ton. I would plan to have 6-8 onesies (each in short and long sleeve) for each size if you'll do laundry every few days. I loved the Carter's zipper sleepers for winter nights so I stocked up on those last time, probably 6-8 of them (changing it a couple times a day on average). For a boy I also had 5-6 pairs of Gap/Old Navy comfy jersey cotton pants that DS wore a lot with a onesie when he was not in a sleeper. That's pretty much it.
If you're due in winter I would also get a few hats, some socks, a bunting.

how many outfits??
Depends how often you plan to do laundry. I personally would skip NB altogether. Get some gowns and kimono wraps. When they are super small outfits are such a pain anyway. Plus they outgrow them so fast.
I do laundry once a week and go through at least 2 outfits a day. I always change him before bed and when he wakes up. I'd say roughly ten outfits and ten onezies and a pack or two of undershirts. It sounds like a lot but with diaper explosions and spit up we go through a lot of clothes.

Re: how many outfits??
I wouldn't buy too much at all. Since you aren't having a shower and you already have one dc everyone will bring you clothing as gifts when he comes home because they know you already have the other baby "stuff". We got to Many outfits after our dd was born i haven't even bought any clothes for her yet. I would just have a few things for that first week then fill in the holes if needed stuff after the welcome baby gifts stop coming. We also only had a shower for our DS not our dd, I just washed up some if his gender neutral stuff and other things we liked to have ready to go.

how many outfits??
I gave away so much of haileys clothes. I plan to hit the outlets in a few weeks see if I can get some good deals. Otherwise I'll just get stuff as I need it. I'll get some onesies and sleep n plays for the first few weeks.

Re: how many outfits??
My kids live in those sleep n plays for the first few months, so I would get about 8-10 of each size, and have just a couple fun outfits to dress them up when I wanted to lol. I would only get a few nb bc my kids gain fast, even though they tend to be born 7ish lbs. 0-3 was always my longest wear, but you just never know, all kids are different.

Re: how many outfits??
Both of my kids were in NB sizes for about 3-4 weeks, but I only had a handful of NB outfits. I'd just put them in the smaller of the 3m outfits I had. That being said, DD is 10 weeks and some of my 3m outfits are still huge on her. So really, you have to just look at outfits and figure out sizing.
As for how many, I think it depends on what you plan on doing with the baby and how often you do laundry. With DS, he was a winter baby so we didn't go out much at first. I didn't care if we repeated outfits constantly, but we only did laundry once a week so I needed enough to get through a week.
DD was a spring baby so we went out from the beginning and I wanted a lot of cute outfits. However, we do laundry more often now, too, but I don't like repeating outfits so frequently so I think I have enough to get through at least 2 weeks with her.

Re: how many outfits??
my first dd was 8.5 lbs, she hardly wore newborn. Id say they wear newborn until about 10lbs max. This time around I know Im having a bigger baby again. I literally have 2 sleep and plays in size newborn and the rest are all 3m or 0-3. Im having another girl so its a lot easier for me. I have at least 12-13 sleep and plays in size 3m leftover from my dd. I also bought a few new ones but now im thinking about exchanging them for bigger sizes since I have so much left from my first dd.

Re: how many outfits??
yes, I'm thinking 0-3M needs to be my priority and just have a few NB just in case. Thank you, all!!

how many outfits??
So, DS was 4 weeks early, 5lbs 8oz, and was in Newborn clothes for all of 3 weeks, maybe 4. After that it was 0-3 month. I would not go crazy with the outfits, yes they need changing often, but still. If your DS is born full term, and is an average size (7lbs) you might not even need NB sizes.

Re: how many outfits??
Unless he is super tiny he might even be ok skipping NB. DD was 6lbs 5oz at discharge and wore 0-3 months within the week. It was a little big but it worked. She had maybe 5 newborn outfits and 6-10 onesies. DD had lots of 0-3 months. At least enough to fill a small dresser draw.

how many outfits??
DD was 7lb5oz and many 0-3 were swimming on her til she was about a month. I think she was in NB for nearly 2 months! So I'd say it's hard to say what will fit best until he's here.

I agree, DS was in newborn for at least 5 weeks possibly a little longer

Re: how many outfits??
My dd was in newborn forever and we actually had to run out and buy more b/c all the 3 month were way way too big. How big were your previous children?
I agree to get a bunch of the sleep and play stretchies for each size (people tend to give "outfits" as gifts, and not those...)
And also a bunch of side-snap tees (long sleeved for December baby, and a few short-sleeved).

Yes I was about to say it's so weird to see how much sizing varies by baby. My first DS was over 10lbs and never wore newborn. DS2 was born 3 weeks early and was 7lb2oz. Now he is two weeks old and still swimming in newborn. I don't see him growing out of these for at least a few weeks more.
Babies born the same (or smaller) size in this thread didn't even need newborn so it really depends on the baby. My SIL and DH ran out and bought DS a newborn wardrobe while I was in the hospital and it all worked out fine. Maybe wait until the baby is here and do something like that if need be.

This reminds me of DD's take home outfits. I had 2, one 0-3 and one NB, just in case. The NB one was pretty big and I put it on her again a month later and it finally fit. The 0-3 outfit didn't fit her til she was about 4-5 months old!
