I assume you are asking about where you should buy a house/where you should live.

I think the answer would depend on what is most important to you? What is your criteria for a town? What is your budget, if you are house hunting?

There are pros/cons to both.

For example, Bethpage has a train station, East Meadow doesn't, if that's important. (You would have to drive to Hicksville, or Merrick or Bellmore, depending on what's closest.)

East Meadow is Town of Hempstead, and most parts of Bethpage are Town of Oyster Bay (but some is TOH, such as the area of Bethpage that falls into Island Trees schools).

East Meadow is a larger school district than Bethpage (or Plainedge, or Island Trees).

East Meadow or Bethpage?

DH grew up in East Meadow. His parents still live there. They are very happy there.

The toxic plume in Bethpage would be a concern for me.

I grew up in East Meadow but now live in Bethpage (we're in the process of moving in.) it depends what you're looking for. I did extensive research on the school districts so if you have any questions pm me.

As far as the "toxic plume" in bethpage goes...it's probably the safest water around because of the heavy filtration since all of the concerns arose. Both are great towns and you can't go wrong in either.
