Totally gross but have to post - Fissures and Rectiv
So gross - can't believe I am posting about this on a public forum Clearly I have turned a corner in my life
When giving birth to my DS many years ago I developed a pretty nasty fissure. Since then and the birth of my second child I have dealt with this off and on for many years. Since the initial "injury" healed - it at most lasts a few days and then I am ok for months. Anyway, last week it got nasty again. Went to the colon/rectal specialist - who I didn't love - and he proscribed Rectiv but seemed in general a little too excited about surgery as a permanent solution. So I feel like I don't really trust him. Got the rectiv and it literally cost me $150 but, he said it was the best case for healing without surgery so worth every penny.
Now - here are my questions - has anyone used this stuff? Does it work? The potential side effects are freaking me out as well as the whole idea of the application process makes me want to cry. Also, everything I am reading on the internet seems to suggest this alleviates pain from fissures but, doesn't actually heal them which is NOT what I am looking for.
Finally, if you have these issues - what has worked for you? What has your doctor proscribed? Thanks so so much and, of course SORRY for the TMI!!

I had the stuff, it did not work for me unfortunatley. I did get headaches and a little light headed from using it. but that could have just been me. I had to had the surgery called a fissurectomy or something. I was in tons of pain everytime I used the bathroom. I literaly, hysterically cried and screamed in pain, Sorry for the TMI, but everytime I used the toilet it would be filled of blood everytime because my tear was pretty severe. I got the surgery about 6 years ago now. It has helped me tremendously. I really havent had a problem since. I do have scar tissue that formed almost like so I have to have it removed but it doesnt bother me that much so I havent had it done yet.

I feel your pain, literally. I had a nasty fissure some years back, but it healed on its own an never came back. I hope you feel better soon.
I have a two great surgeons if you need.
