Hi everyone,
I'm new to this board. We have been seriously TTC for about 2+ years. In October I will hopefully be having my first IVF attempt. Bc of one of my egg reserve hormones being low, our RE wants us to go straight to IVF. Has anyone had any success with insurance covering IVF without first doing the IUI's? Any advice would be helpful.
Xoxo

Hi! I wish you lots of luck!! I dont know much about the insurance...for me my insurance covers unlimited IUI's but I need IVF. We are doing the IUI until we figure out how to pay for IVF

Usually your REs office can indicate recommendation to go straight to IVF. The ins will review and determine approval. We have MFI and were approved for IVF straight away.

My insurance approved going straight to IVF after the dr sent in the information showing that IUI wouldn't work. I'm sure your dr will be submitting paperwork to show that IUI isn't worth trying. Good Luck!!

I don't think my insurance required IUIs first. We had severe MFI and there is no way an IUI would have been successful.

I think it on the insurance co. My insurace is making me do 6 IUI's because I am under 35, and I have no diagnosis. You should call your insurance company and find out all there rules about that.

Thank you so much everyone! I'm keeping positive that they will cover it and I have heard in the past that are grants you apply for as well. I have low AMH so the doc feels IUI would be unsuccessful and we should move straight to IVF. I'm not sure my current number but I am 34 so time is ticking and we are done trying the natural way. I'm hopeful that this diagnosis will satisfy the insurance company to justify this direct treatment. This process just started yesterday so the docs office told me they will be working on this with the insurance company but that GHI is one of the more difficult ones to deal with. Fingers crossed!
