How to tame the nausea
Hey ladies! I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow and all of a sudden I have such horrible nausea at night! It's been so bad the past couple of nights, I was slightly nauseous in the evenings but this is just awful. I didn't have this with my other 2 kids! My stomach has been so sensitive to everything I eat! Anything that helps? Has anyone had their MS peak this late in first trimester?

Re: How to tame the nausea
I saw on a forum in one of the pregnancy apps I use a woman was bragging that she discovered the cure for morning sickness. Her cure : smoking pot. When I last looked at that post, it was up to 27 pages of comments, not surprisingly Anyway, the main thing that tends to help me is snacking on carbs. And I've been trying those wrist bands for sea sickness, and I think they help a little. But there are times when nothing helps. It sucks, but hopefully will pass by 2nd trimester. With my first pregnancy I felt much better by 14 weeks.

Re: How to tame the nausea
Ugh, I wish I knew. My co-worker said ginger candies really helped her, but I have yet to receive mine and try it out myself. Nothing is helping me right now- no amount of water or salty snacks. I'm only 7 weeks and I feel like my stomach is staging a revolt.
I was wondering about the sea sickness bands. I'm willing to try ANYTHING.

How to tame the nausea
There used to be a drug on the market years ago called Bendectin. It's still used in other countries under other names but it is basically Vitamin B6+unisom to help MS.

There used to be a drug on the market years ago called Bendectin. It's still used in other countries under other names but it is basically Vitamin B6+unisom to help MS.
It's available now under the name Diclegis. It's a category A drug (like Tylenol) and it's a lifesaver for many women. I tried regular Unisom and B6 and it didn't do anything for me. Diclegis is extended release which seemed to make a difference.
It was pulled off the market in the USA when there was a scare about birth defects and the pharm co decided to stop making the drug b/c it was too expensive to defend (they never lost a case, btw). The doctor whose studies showed birth defects was later stripped of his medical license b/c he had falsified the data. It's been used around the world since the 50's and is the only anti-nausea drug for pregnancy (Zofran and other drugs you often hear about are for chemo and other non-pregnancy situations). The FDA concluded there was no association between Bendectin/Diclegis and birth defects, over 30 epidemiologic studies have concluded that it's safe for use in pregnancy. Also, the WHO and the March of Dimes have exonerated the drug. The CDC hasn’t found any reduction in birth defects nationally since Bendectin was pulled from the US market.
If you take it, you'll be really drowsy and tired for the first week or so as your body gets used to the Unisom component. It's also important to take it on an empty stomach.

How to tame the nausea
I lived off carbs for awhile. I would eat a slice of pizza a night and then crackers, ginger ale and hard ginger candies (GoNaturally Organic Ginger Gluten Free Hard Candies). I got the candy at TJ Maxx or Homegoods at first then ordered them from Amazon.
Also, keep hydrated. Water, Seltzer, Gingerale, Gatorade.

This makes me feel a lot better. It's been nothing but bagels, pizza, pretzels, and crackers.
How were the ginger candies? Spicy? I actually just ordered some... and some preggie pops? I figured they're worth a shot.

I've been so so sick. We were waiting on line for a KIDS show, and these darn people a few rows ahead of us were smoking. I tried to stay away but didn't want to lose our place. I felt great for the rest of the day. I was guessing that's why.
Ginger ale and coke is the only thing helping me feel better at this point. It's been rough!!

Preggie Drops are awesome, especially the chewy ones. It's the GINGER!!! GingerAle helps too and Saltines. I also bought "Morning Wellness Tea", both at Babies R Us and drinking it before bed has helped. Mine started arount 6/7 weeks, I'm 11 weeks now and it's actually getting better so hopefully yours won't last long.

Re: How to tame the nausea
Carbs helped me to a degree. I was nauseous and vomiting and ended up being put on Zofran. I could not keep anything down, literally could not get up from the couch. Zofran was a godsend. I would have never been able to function at work without it.

How to tame the nausea
My RE recommended eating protein and carbohydrates together--it really helped- I also used sea bands and gin gin ginger candies--the chewy ones-they carry them at Trader Joes, Fairway and Whole foods.

Re: How to tame the nausea
Listen to your body and eat what it allows and avoid what brings on the queasy. I think starting week 6 I was only able to eat very cold applesauce, very cold grapes, very cold lemonade, cold salads and cucumbers, warm lentil soup, cold hummas with cold cheese, chicken salad on lettuce cups. Pickles!!!! The key for me was cold, sour things. Also, I didn't allow myself to get hungry meaning I was snacking very light but constantly bc once I got too hungry I would be too nauseous. Don't feel guilty about eating just a few things. Your body gives the baby everything it needs from you. Just keep hydrated and eat the best you can until it passes. Some alternatives are sea bands-- worked well for me during work. I wasn't severely sick generally but had the constant nausea so they helped me. For sicker girls, they don't always work :/ Diclegis was offered and is again, not as strong as the big anti nausea drugs that are catC but it helps. Take at night to avoid the grogginess. Zofran and reglan-- I took reglan for my son and he is 9 now and perfectly healthy. If you get to the point that you are not holding anything down, even water, you may have to consider reglan or zofran. Hope you feel better soon!

I didn't like the ginger candies at first but they grew on me. They're GoNaturally Organic Ginger Gluten Free Hard Candies, 3.5-Ounce Bags
I actually just broke them out again because I've been feeling nauseous all morning.
