Side effects from prescription migraine meds?
I have now tried 2 different meds and had similar reactions. The first was an injectable and honestly I thought I was going to die. Heart/chest and throat were heavy. Awful. Today I took Relpax for the first time and I felt very odd. Again heaviness in my chest and arms especially and weird feelings in my jaw. Also got slightly nauseous. Wasn't as bad as the injectable but still made me nervous. It did however take my headache away within a half hour or so. Ugh, anyone else experience anything like this? I'm afraid I'll never find a med that helps without any side effects. I also have a script for Maxalt but I'm scared to even try it!

Side effects from prescription migraine meds?
I take relpax and have for yrs. sometimes i notice no effects. Other times i notice my body getting really hot and my arms feeling heavy. I have also felt tingling in my head and anxiety. But when a migraine is so bad that i need relpax i dont even care about the side effects i just need the migraine to go away. Maybe your body needs to get used to the medication. Relpax works so wonderfully for me. Good lick

I sometimes get that way from Imitrix both pills and shot (worse with the shot) I was told not to worry, but I don't like the feeling either.

Maxalt and Relpax have similar side effects. In my experience I have fewer side effects from Relpax.

Re: Side effects from prescription migraine meds?
When I was getting migraines, I had the same reactions. They usually subsided after a bit and did help take the edge off of my migraines.

Re: Side effects from prescription migraine meds?
Thanks everyone. I will call my neuro to discuss. If it is normal and won't get worse, I guess I can deal since it does take the migraine away. I just get nervous it will get worse and I'll have a heart attack or something! I have a history of allergic reactions and such so I am always super nervous about anything I take.

I had a similar reaction to immitrex, I take Maxalt and have had no side effects at all, I've been using it for about 4 years

Side effects from prescription migraine meds?
My husbands get the same way with his migraine meds. Feels like his chest is heavy and having a heart attack. Unfortunately seems like a listed side effect.
