WWYD--wait another cycle or shut up and start now!
It took us 18 months to conceive DD.
While trying for No. 2, it took us a little over a year to conceive. But that ended in miscarriage.
I'm turning 40 at the end of the year and only recently went to seek the help of an RE.
Had an HSG, everything looked fine. AMH and FSH were good. DH's sperm good too. Everything came back normal.
So it if it didn't happen this month, the plan would be to start clomid and do an IUI.
Today is CD1. B!tch! 
I was about to call the doctor and arrange to go in on day 3 and get clomid, but am having second thoughts.
Obviously, I know I can get pregnant. We managed it twice. It just takes a while. I kind of want to wait another cycle and just try naturally again this month, but at the same time it's like how many cycles have I done that and failed? I'm feeling 40 closing in on me and I should stop wasting time.
And yet...
UGH!
I know this is a very personal decision and in the end I will go with my gut.
Just curious to know what you would do in my situation.
I really REALLY don't want to take clomid!

Well Im 36 and did 3 IUIs before I stopped wasting my time. My OB was doing the IUIs with clomid and no monitoring. I've moved on to IVF and currently working with an RE
I think if I were 40, Im not sure I'd waste much more time. Do an iUI with clomid and if not, forge ahead.
I had the smallest dose of clomid, 50mg and had no side effects. and the IUI procedure is pretty easy.

at this point waiting one more month wont make a difference, try on your one if you need to. I agree with other pp, this way you know you went with your gut

Same, I would go for it.
ETA: Could you try Femara? It does the same job as clomid, but with lesser side effects.

you can ask your doctor to do a non medicated cycle since you know you ovulate and everything.

Maybe you should just do an unmediated cycle and just get an IUI.

Either way its just a month. So do what feels right. If I was able to get preg on my own, which I'm not, I may give it one last ditch effort and then move on. GL

I'm in a similar situation. Both DH (40) & I (39) have been tested and there is nothing stopping us from conceiving...2 years later, we're not PG.
This is our first cycle with an RE and she recommended a non medicated IUI.
If everything is "working" I'm not sure why clomid would be offered so quickly, but then again this is all very new to me.
