Syosset Daycares: MATSS or Kids by the Bunch?
Hi! I'm searching for the right daycare for my kids. I toured MATSS and Kids by the Bunch. MATSS looks great but I'm worried they they will do more gym time than learning time. Does anyone have experience with MATSS? I have an infant and a pre-k aged child. Also, any info on Kids by the Bunch? THANKS!

I would recommend that you use the daycare lookup tool on the NYS OCFS website. I just looked up Kids By the Bunch and what I saw was cringe worthy. Under license status it says pending denial, they have been removed from the referral list, and they have 20 uncorrected violations. The list of total violations is over a mile long.

Great my children have been going here for 4 years but with that said all the teachers that have had my children are amazing but I do not like the owners and the past few months things have been hectic there because of them. If it wasn't for my DD finishing pre k this year there and starting kindergarten I probably would have pulled her out but she would have been devastated. She also had learned tons from being there. She know well over 15 sight words all she learned last school year. To be clear I never felt my kids were unsafe there but now that this has been brought to my attention I will be finding out what is going on.
I will say they just got a new owner partner and I can see they are making a lot of changes.
ETA : I just read through all the violations and a lot of them seems to be results of poor management which still pisses me off. I pay a TON of money to send my kids and I really didn't need this additional stress

My 8 year old did the school break camps at MATTS. while it wasn't infant daycare I loved the way the place was run. Clean, nice friendly staff and my DD loved it.

I used to work at kids by the bunch. I wouldn't send my son there.

I toured Kids by the Bunch and when we left my husband said, we aren't sending our baby there. He was not a fan. Also after the tour they said they would call me about a pricing/schedule question and nobody ever called. I heard good things about MATSS when I was looking but never toured there. GL its such a hard decision.

I spoke to the director at KBTB at length. She basically said that they have def had issues, she's been a teacher there for 3 years but was recently promoted to director and she walked into chaos, they've made a bunch of changes and are headed in the right direction and have made major improvement. They have apparently corrected the issues in the licensing report but it has not been reviewed yet by the state. They have new ownership which is a part of it the delay. I'm glad theyre on their way up but how do I know that's gonna happen and how quickly. So scrath that idea.
I also toured MATSS and really liked the facility. But, then I asked for their pre-k/daycare daily schedule. It's ALOT of gym and play time and less than 1.5 hours of learning (circle, math, reading, letters, etc). Compared to other daycares, even the one my kids are at currently, that's a lot more play time and a lot less learning time. I love how they have all these gyms and great facilities and sports and that's definitely a bonus above other daycare facilities but I don't want them to have less learning time than they currently have. Just wondering if I'm misunderstanding and hoping someone with experience can let me know.

We just left KBTB after having been with them for 4 years. We were sad to go but they have been going downhill for the last year. I would not send my kid there. They are disorganized and the morale of the staff is low. They have turnover like crazy. My kid was moved from room to room and had 4 different teachers last year. Stay away!

If you are willing to drop your kids off in Woodbury we had a really good experience at Bright Horizons. The staff was great with my son and the directors were so accommodating.
