I saw someone posted on another thread about it, so figured I would ask. What is it all about?

I have long, thick hair that is color treated and can get dry. I can only wash it about every 4-5 days or else it is dry, tangled and hard to manage.

Most days I have it up in a pony or bun and I very rarely blow dry it or use the flat iron.

I am always on the hunt for shampoo/conditioner that will make my hair soft, shiny and still have some body.

If you use it, how does it work? Where do you get it and what's the best price?

thanks ladies!

My adventures with WEN.

I just bought it. I bought it on QVC as a special value kit - 32oz cleansing conditioner, styling creme, hair mist and hair oil. I read the instruction booklet front to back. "It may seem counterintuitive, but use MORE than you think you need!" That should have been my first clue.

I have thick, fine, straight shoulder length hair. It said to use 16 pumps of conditioner. Now, 1 pump is the size of about 3 Wendy's chicken nuggets, a Yankee votive candle, a small hamster or 410 jelly beans. Basically, it was freaking crazy to attempt to use 16 pumps. So I did 4. Now, they also suggest using half the number of pumps so you can do a rinse and repeat routine. I was rebellious and didn't do this.

The cleansing cream itself is nice and thick and makes your hair feel amazing. You massage it in and let it sit the rest of the shower. Then MASSAGE it out with a cold water rinse. The "massaging it out" part is key - otherwise, your hair feels thick and gunky. Well, to be fair, my hair always felt thick and gunky while using WEN.

I used the hydrating mist and styling creme the first day and then blow dried as normal. Hair felt soft and looked shiny, but I could tell it wasn't quite styling the same. Hair had nice volume and felt very light. Within 2 hours, it was flat as a board at the roots and kinda foofy at the ends. It ended up in a pony tail, which I only wear on the last Friday of the 14th month of years ending in 99. So basically, never.

The next day, I tried again and did the rinse and repeat routine. This time, my roots felt very thick and stiff. Later that night I felt emboldened to try to the hair oil.

It will be fun, they say. Your hair will love you for it, they say.

I squeezed the oil all over my scalp, massaging it in while relishing the fact that I smelled like a York Peppermint Patty. I put a shower cap and went to bed "for optimum results, leave oil overnight."

The next day, no amount of cleansing conditioner could help. My roots were black and oily, full of frizz and stringier than a Polly-O string cheese stick.

I attempted WEN three more times, praying each time that my hair would be as beautiful as that gorgeous, totally not Botoxed, Chaz Dean. But it never got better, and like a disappointed 6 year old on Christmas, I sent WEN back to QVC and immediately went to CVS to buy shampoo and conditioner.

Kitten - this is exactly what I imagine would happen to me! I am also very low maintenance so if it's a hassle, I definitely won't do it no matter how good it works.

I am glad you were able to return it to QVC!

Re: WEN Hair Products

I've been using it for a while now. I wish I could remember how long, but I'd say a little over a year?

There totally is a "learning curve". I have thick, wavy, course, frizzy hair. And WEN Fig has worked WONDERS for me. I flat iron my hair daily and I used to get all of these sticky-uppy pieces on top of my head when I used regular shampoo. Ever since I've been using Wen, they are gone.

And, I have to say that I wear my hair wavy sometimes, something that I'd NEVER do with regular shampoo because it would just expand and frizz out.

I use (24) pumps on my whole head of hair. And you're supposed to use them on the crown of your head, the two sides and then the back. So, I do (6) pumps for the crown, (6) for the left side, (6) for the right side & (6) for the back. That's it. No biggie. And I don't wash my hair everyday. I go like 5 days, sometimes longer.

Then just massage it in and comb it through. You really have to make sure you wet your hair enough when you get in the shower and then rinse it off very thoroughly.

It really does work. At least for me.

Oh, and I get it from Amazon 95% of the time.

I am a QVC junkie. I watch and order all the time! I was sucked into WEN and bought the special value with 6 different bottles. I tried them all over and over again. I left it in longer, shorter, rinsed with cold water rinsed with warm water. I gave it 28 days to say ugh! I hate this stuff and on day 30 it went back to QVC.
My hair is a little past my shoulders, fairly healthy and never dyed. It made my hair feel greasy, dry and flatter than normal.
I wanted to fall in love with it but I absolutely hated it.

I have never tried it, but 2 friends did. Neither of them had a good experience. One used it and was losing a ton of hair! The other ended up with a burnt scalp.

I had always wanted to try it, but their experiences completely turned me off. The last thing I want is to lose my hair!

I use WEN and like it.

I have thick, curly hair down to my shoulders. I still use regular shampoo every 4-5 days though.

The thing about WEN, at least for me, is that you should use HALF of what they tell you to use!

You can get a regular shampoo that doesn't have sulfates. What makes Wen different is not the lack of sulfates, it is that it isn't a shampoo, its a conditioner. So you're not shampooing your hair you are just conditioning and letting the natural hair oils take over.

I haven't tried brand name Wen, I tried a 'cleansing conditioner' just like Wen that is offered by a local salon. I didn't like it. My DH said that it made my hair look frizzier than my normal sulfate free shampoo/conditioner (the Brazilian blowout brand) so it went into the trash. The fact that a guy noticed that my hair was worse than normal was a huge red flag. Chat Icon

I agree - i felt like it left a film in my hair, almost greasy. My hairdresser even noticed that it felt different...i had to use a clarifying shampoo a few times to get it all out and my hair back to normal

I think you have to have the right type of hair for this stuff. I can tell just be the idea of it that it would be a disaster grease spill in my hair. My hair is straight and fine. Even heavy conditioner is a disaster for me so I can only imagine what this stuff would do to my hair.

On another note, I'm very jealous of those who can go several days without washing. I have to wash daily or it shows big time!
