Leak in ceiling- who call?

We have a leak in our living room ceiling- right below our bathroom. It's not leaking yet but there is bubble and I felt ceiling- it is damp and I was able to push through easily to drywall- also damp. Do we call plumber first to find leak? Contractor? Please advise.

If it's damp that section of the ceiling likely needs to be replaced. I would make a small hole look up there and see if you can see where the leak is coming from.

If it's a pipe you will need a plumber, then a general contractor or handyman to close the hole and paint when the plumber is done.

Start with the plumber to fix the leak. When it's fixed, you'll have to get the ceiling repaired, but no point in starting there only to have the leak continue.
