University Associates High Risk OBGYN
For those of you who go to University Associates for high risk appointments, can someone tell me what to expect at the first appointment?
They have me scheduled for a sonogram and a consultation. I also have my reg OBGYN appt 2 days later and they said since I am getting a sonogram at the high risk dr they are going to cancel the one I had at the office. My husband wants to come to see the babys growth, do they let him in the sonogram room at the high risk OBGYN?
Anything else, I should expect?

University Associates High Risk OBGYN
You'll be taken in for a sono first and you can definitely bring your husband! Afterwards, if they're ready for you, they'll ask for a urine sample (every appt.) and weigh you. Then you go into an exam room where the nurse will check your BP and then the dr will come in. If they're not ready for you, you just go back to the wAiting room til they call you. It's pretty much the same routine at every appointment.
Who are you seeing? I've seen pretty much all the MFM's there between both pregnancies.

Thank you so much for your response! I feel so much better knowing what to expect. This is my first pregnancy and I wasn't expecting to have to see a high risk OBGYN so I am very nervous and scared. I am happy that you think it would be fine for my husband to come for the sonogram. He was disappointed thinking he was going to miss seeing the baby this week LOL
I am seeing a Dr Garetto? I may be spelling it wrong. I didn't have a choice, they just called me up yesterday and assigned me with an appointment and doctor.

Oh she's new. I have an appointment with her in October for my 6 week postpartum visit.
I usually see Dr. bernasko who is awesome and dr. Demishev who is good too. The only one who works in high risk that I do not like is Kristen alarcon, the nurse practitioner so I try to avoid seeing her as much as possible.
The sonograms aren't done by high risk techs but they are reviewed by the MFM's. I've never seen anyone not be allowed to bring someone in for a sono. They even let my toddler in. I've seen whole families go in lol but I wouldn't advise it bc there isn't much room lol.

I've seen Demishev a few times in beginning and never had an issue with anyone at the sono... I bring my 3 year old all the time ... The tech does the sono and docs review it before they let you go for the day or your appointment .. If anything is off tech will redo measurements or a doc will come in to double check ...

I really loved Dr. Garretto. Actually I loved the sonogram tech too. They were just so friendly and spent so much time with me today.
While you can tell by her appearance she is young (possibly younger than me), she was so knowledgeable and did her research on my families background before meeting with me. I was really impressed.
Overall I had such a great experience there today. Thank you so much for letting me know what to expect. It helped ease my anxiety.
