2nd time mommies with big age difference - ? about registering
I know it's super early to even think about registering, but a friend's baby shower got my wheels spinning and I started thinking about all the things I saved, and the things I got rid of, after DS.
DS is 6 yo so there's a big age gap. I saved my high chair, a swing, the Gracco Pack N Play, and his Gracco stroller system. The swing was barely used and in great condition. I'm going to keep it and re-use it. The Pack n Play was used a TON but it's still in great shape and unless someone has a good reason (like a recall or something), I don't see why I wouldn't use it again. The high chair is gross. I'd like a new one. But my biggest question is about the travel system. I don't even know what model the stroller is...whatever Graco one was popular back in 2009 I assume. I know the carseat is far past expired at this point. Do they even make infant carriers that still attach to the old strollers? Should I just register for a whole new one?
I hesitate to even register, but given that this is our first baby together (DH's first child ever) and its been 6 years, I know we'll end up having a shower - especially if it's a girl. I'd rather not put a bunch of big ticket items on there, but when ExH and I split, he took half the baby stuff, so there's a lot I don't have anymore. Should I just go all out and register for everything or try to make due with what we have saved?

I would def register. So many things have come out in 6 years. Even a few years makes a diff. A battery operated swing vs plug in. Etc etc.
Plus it's dhs first baby. I say go all out and register and then try to reuse whatever nobody buys you.

I would definitely register if I was you. It has been a while and there are things you need. I wouldn't register for things you already have and are going to use.

I'd just register, especially since it's your DH's first. Put whatever you want on it, worst case scenario no one buys it and you get a discount coupon at the end.

I will have an 8 year age gap and I am definitely registering. We saved very little from DD. Some of the bigger ticket items that we want that are pricey such as stroller, mamaroo and car seat we have/will buy ourselves. I would definitely register especially since it's your DHs first and you have such a big gap.

Re: 2nd time mommies with big age difference - ? about registering
My DS and DD will be 5 years apart. Im due in 2 weeks. My mom and co-workers both threw me a small Sprinkle so I did register. I am using some of my old stuff like high chair, pack and play.. but I definitely needed new bottles, new infant carrier and snap and go, car seat bases etc (mine expires in January plus Graco changed the bases for everything so nothing was compatible to old car seat) Plus, Babies R us gives you a percentage back on everything purchased on your registry and 10 percent off to complete it so that's a bonus to register!

We have one on the way and won't be registering, we need to purchase so much. Being that this is your DH's first, you should register. I'm sure his family in particular is going to want to buy things for the baby.

Re: 2nd time mommies with big age difference - ? about registering
DD will be 26 months when this baby is born and I still plan to register. It'll probably be a small registry since we still have most stuff, but I know friends and family will buy gifts anyway so it might as well be things that we need and/or want.
