Stitches

I had surgery on Tuesday afternoon on my finger. They said to remove the dressing today. I did that, and before re-wrapping it, noticed it was very swollen and numb in that area still. If you have had stitches, does that sound normal? I go back next week, but just wondering before then! I have obviously never had stitches before, nor have my kids

As someone who has had more stitches and more surgery than she cares to remember, I can try to offer some help lol.

Some swelling and numbness sounds pretty normal to me, especially since it's a surgical site.

Is it very red, oozing gross stuff or warm? If it has any signs of infection like that, I would call the doc or go to a walk in (if its the weekend or whatever). But otherwise, your finger just went through some trauma... so swelling and numbness is definitely expected!
