insomnia
For a month or so I fall asleep but can not stay asleep. Im literally wide awake all night. I refuse to take any kind of meds for this though ive heard a couple of horror stories and id really rather not go that route. Anything natural i can try? I need my sleep lol
Ive been anxious lately too so thats not helping the situation

Re: insomnia
I know the feeling but I take drugs to help lol I use to stay awake for days on end and crash my insomnia was so bad (when I was in college)
but my old PMD use to have me take over the counter melatonin. that's more natural
stay off your computer and other electronics at night. Don't pay bills etc before bedtime. Refrain from doing actives that make you feel anxious before bedtime
Take a warm bath or shower, then get into bed. the warmth of the water and blankets will keep you warm and relaxed and maybe help you stay asleep, A bath might also relax your mind
deep breathing, yoga, meditation all help people relax and clear their heads.
also if you can figure out why you feel anxious that would help. Acknowledge what is bothering you and release.
Good Luck. Sleep well tonight

Re: insomnia
An hour before bed time. Turn off all electronic devices, including the tv. Take a pen and paper and journal what is bothering you. What is making you anxious? Can you take steps to have it under your control? If it is something out of your control can you find something else to focus on? Sleepy time tea might also help you. I think it is chamomile. How are your sheets and blankets? Can you get a soft pair with a warm blanket? I also love a nice warm shower. It is really relaxing. The other natural way to fall asleep is to um have a good O.

insomnia
I have had relentless insomnia for the past 10 years. It came out of nowhere. I have tried every home remedy, over the counter pill, tea, video, aromatherapy...you name it. Nothing helps. My problem is falling asleep and staying asleep. I've done days, weeks with no sleep. It got to the point of physical pain.
So here I am on Ambien. I've read the horror stories too, but it works for me. I don't have any night time eating, drugged up internet shopping, nothing. I just sleep. It's heavenly. I've mentioned to the doctor about wanting to come off, but every time I try I am right back to square one. He tell me that he's rather me be on it and get sleep, then walk around like a zombie. Sleeplessness is way more detrimental to your health, is what he tells me.

just be careful.. it can become addictive.. start with 1 mcg, which i think is the lowest you can take. i take melatonin to sleep during daylight hours.
i take a bath, which lulls me into sleepy state.
i think they have sleepytime tea which can be used.

Re: insomnia
If 1 mg of melatonin doesn't work you can do 3 mg. I have been taking 3 mg for years. I stopped when I got pregnant without any ill effects or feeling like i needed it to sleep. I will say that I think over time you do get ba bit immune to it and it doesn't work as well after taking it for an extended period of time
