Challenge finding a dress for halloween

We are going to a party and decided on being the Addams family

I'm morticia
BIL is Gomez
DH is pugsly
SIL is Wednesday

The dress party city has stinks

I want to look as much like morticia as possible.
I have been looking for a long sleeve, v-neck black gown. Somewhat mermaid shaped if possible. I tried one on at the mall that was close, but it was so fitted and such thin matieral, that you can see my cellulite on the back of my legs in it. THAS A NO NO! Lol

So I started looking for a dress w pattern or thicker material.

It's impossible!

Help!

Hmmmmmmmm. Maybe I'll go back and try it on with panty hose. That's a thought. Though I think id have to wear full on shape wear and I'd love to avoid that. I want to be comfortable if I can be

What about a black dress from a witch costume or vampire costume? I just don't think you'll find much in the way of a long sleeved black mermaid gown. Either they are super cheap and skanky or super expensive.

ETA: Or an Elvira costume?

My search has changed to looking for witchy or Elvira looks as well. I'm struggling lol

I'm gonna hit up spirit Halloween. Already went to party city, they had nothing.

Yeah I think that's going to be your best bet. Try the vampire route, too! Ebay and Etsy have some black dresses that are reasonably priced and look okay online but it's chancy, ya know? Good luck! If I see anything, I'll send you a link!

That's similar to what I found. It's very thin material.

Omg Liz!! That first one is perfect. I just can't justify spending that much on a Halloween costume lol

The one from Sears could possibly work!
Hmmmmmm I have to see if they have it in store to try on

Thank you!

Those are the ones that I have been seeing. They aren't very true to the character.

I'm very specific with my Halloween costumes. It's a weird thing with me.

So I never bought from this particular retailer, but I have bought MANY MANY dresses from Amazon to use for halloween and Mardi Gras. I actually got my friend hooked, too, she got a red sequin one last week for a Jessica Rabbit costume. Just check the reviews out, I have gotten some great steals.

You have to order early because I think they come from China, but I did a 1 second search on amazon and am just giving you the first hit:
Try Amazon

*warning - they're obviously cheap dresses, I wouldn't buy a gown here for a formal wedding or anything Chat Icon

Re: Challenge finding a dress for halloween

This is the one I found at the mall on Monday. The one that showed cellulite Chat Icon

External Image

I think I'm gonna go buy it, make sure it's returnable and then try it on with a few different things. Stockings, Spanx (god help me) and I'm even gonna bring it with me to Kohls and try some shapewear on with it.

If it doesn't work, I'll return it and then go to Spirit Halloween and hope they have some gothic type dress there that can work.

This is total BS lol

Spirit Halloween is my next adventure

That stinks! Have you tried googling black long sleeve maxi dress? I saw a few options come up that might work...

This one has good reviews

No reviews but it's from 6pm.com, so at least it's not going to ship from China.

Forever 21

Nordstrom, but a little pricey

ETA: There are also a few Amazon maxis that might work. Best of all, they are mostly Prime eligible.

7 This one looks really nice, but not Amazon Prime. So it's chancy if you'll get it in time.
