Pediatric neurologist that will have a appt open soon
I'm looking for a pediatric neurologist for my almost 3yr old daughter
She had a doctor out of cohens. Liked her very much but getting a appt is like pulling teeth
My daughter had her 10th seizure today. They are mild and she is fine after sleeping after for a long time
When they first happened of course we went to hospital/them she saw a neurologist. She's had a MRI. Car scan. Blood. 48 hr video EEG in the hospital. Everything perfect. They want one more MRI,this time with contrast. So I was told in august to call and make a appt for end of sept to do it (had to be at least 6 months from her last) I call and no appts till January??? Nothing they can do
Now docs said most children grow out of them and her tests are perfect but I hate that I can't get a appt
I got a name of another doc and switched. But I ask for a appt. jan 6th the earliest they have.
Anyone have a recommendation for one they love I can call and maybe get a sooner appt

I use Robert Gould in great neck for my son with CP. very easy to get an appt with. We had someone at cohens who we disliked and my ped and developmental ped both recomended him.

I used Dr Rosenn in Plainview. Some don't like his bedside manner but I thought he was great with DS. When I called for my first appt they got me in within a week.
He's not far from us so it would probably take 10mins or less to get to his office.

I used Dr Rosenn in Plainview. Some don't like his bedside manner but I thought he was great with DS. When I called for my first appt they got me in within a week.
He's not far from us so it would probably take 10mins or less to get to his office.
This is where we took dd. Our pedi recommend one in Woodbury that was supposed to be the best but they offered me an appointment like 3 months later. Wtf.
Dr Rosenn was good. Nice. His receptionist was mean though but oh well. They fit us in same week.

I believe you can call and ask if there has been any last minute cancellations and get in that way. That's how I got in with a developmental pediatrician for my DS sooner.
I also made an appointment for my DS with a ped neurologist in huntington that was recommended to me by other moms and I was also only able to get in at the end of January.

My 3 year old has epilepsy. We see a doctor at Cohen's and love her and the office! I started with stonybrook and it was not a great experience. Being at Cohen's for the testing was like night and day. They were sooooooo much better and more equipped for dealing with little kids. Honestly - I would stay with them. It's always difficult to get a quick appointment with any neuro. We make all our appointments months out.

They jut called me back and we had a. Appt for next week. Then they said they don't take ghi

Did you try having your ped's office call and make the appointment? We had the same issue where we would call to make appointments and we were told we had to wait months. When I discussed this with my ped, he had his office staff call and they were able to get us in much sooner.

why do you need to see them again to be able to schedule the MRI? Didn't you say they told you to schedule it in august? Did you talk to your doctor (or just the front desk?). I ask bc our doctor allowed us to schedule the MRI without waiting to come in to see her when we talked on the phone and I explained what was going on. Which Dr do you see?
sometimes its also the particular doctor you see that is hardier to get the appt with

Trust me - I've been through it with my baby too so I totally understand!! I know it isn't really what you want to hear but I've been through 3 different neurologist and it's just the way it is with specialist. Our dr at Cohen's is the only one I feel like is actually following her and seeing her regularly - and that is every 3-6 months. We have been told that we should always follow up with our regular pediatrician to have her checked out. Like I said - I know its so frustrating but neurologist is not the type of doctor you will get an appt with quickly or will see at every seizure. If it helps, I found Stony brook neurology had quicker appointments. I just didn't like them but I know people who love them.
I hope your dd feels better and you get the answers you are looking for! I know its a long process.

I highly recommend Dr. Robin Smith. He is fantastic! Although there can sometimes be a long wait for an initial appointment, if you explain the urgency of your situation perhaps they can find a way to fit you in.
