PGD question for women over 40

Just wondering if there is anyone here over the age of 40 that did the genetic screening to check the number or chromosomes of their embryos. Any information you have to share would be appreciated. I am 42 and already had a natural pregnancy 2 years ago end at 14 weeks due to trisomy 21. Now that we have found ourselves turning to IVF, the doctor recommends doing the PGS to make sure the embryos are healthy. Giving IVF one shot and hoping this will give us the best odds.

PGD question for women over 40

I was going to do PGD and icsi. I figured if I was doing this I wanted to give myself the best options I could. The good thing was my insurance covers it so it wasn't an added expense to think about.

My marriage fell apart before we actually started IVF but I am now seriously considering a baby on my own and will again do every option I have to get the best chances

Re: PGD question for women over 40

I am 39. I am trying for baby #2. I had one miscarriage at 8 weeks followed by a D&C and then 3 chemicals all in the past year. I am currently doing IUI (which is how I conceived my DD), however, if it does not work then my RE recommends doing IVF with PGD. My insurance does not cover it. I think it would be worth the extra money, especially if you are going to give it one more shot. It increases the odds of a healthy pg by a lot from the research I have done.

Re: PGD question for women over 40

I did PGD/ aCGH, we ended up with five embryos make it to blast with was pdg. We were banking for months, which was three cycles altogether. I was 40 at the time. Two came back as normal and we put one back in, back in May of this year. I did get pregnant but unfortunately it ended in a MC at around five weeks. We paid out of pocket because it was not covered by insurance. It's not a foolproof process. I believe there's a better, more accurate testing available. I forgot the name of it. Dr. T from SIRM told us about it recently.

Hope that helps. FM me if you need more information.

I was 40 when I did my first and only IVF cycle (BFP). I opted not to do PGD. I did basic genetic screening and nothing of concern came back. I did, however, do ICSI.
