I guess this is my new home - ? about ectopic recovery
Hi ladies! Just thought I'd introduce myself. I suffered an ectopic pregnancy recently and was rushed to the ER and into emergency surgery to remove my left tube on 10/5. It's been a slow recovery, both physically and emotionally. I'm finally starting to feel a bit more like myself, but physically I'm still healing and trying to take it slow.
For those of you who have had an ectopic and had surgery for it (mine was not laparoscopic), how long did it take for you to fully recover after surgery? My scar, which looks just like a C-section scar, is still very tender/itchy/pinchy. It's uncomfortable to wear pants sometimes and it definitely isn't pretty to look at (there's like a ridge where the stitches were). My OB also said we could begin trying again after 2 cycles, but the thought of is just scary to me at this point. I imagine it will be somewhat painful, no?
Just looking for any advice and encouragement from those of you who have BTDT.

Re: I guess this is my new home - ? about ectopic recovery
I had a burst ectopic in August 2012 (on my 6 year anniversary) after 2 normal pregnancies. I had one tube removed laproscopically. It took about a week for me to feel better..my doctor also told me I could try again after two cycles...I had a D&C at the same time and my period came exactly 4 weeks after it...I was pregnant again in October of that year and it was totally a normal pregnancy (though I was a wreck the entire time). It was a hard time for me and it is still an extremely emotional issue for me, as many people don't know and the ones who do can be incredibly insensitive about pregnancy loss, but honestly, it has made me appreciate my babies more and realize how lucky I am that they are here. I did see a therapist after my ectopic, not directly because of it, but I think it was part of the reason I felt the need to. Good luck.

Thank you so much for sharing. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss but I do agree, I think this experience will make us appreciate our future babies (God willing) that much more.

I guess this is my new home - ? about ectopic recovery
I had an ectopic in June- Did not have surgery (had the methotrexate injection), so I can't help as far as healing goes. My doctor had me wait 1 cycle, but it took until the end of August just for my levels to get back down to 0. I waited until my next cycle in Septemeber and then began trying again. So far, no luck.
I'm so sorry you're going through this :( It really is the worst. I would suggest asking for a prescription to get an HSG done, though. It put my mind at ease to know that the tubes were clear. I, like you, was very scared to try again because I was afraid of this happening again

My biggest fear is this happening again. That's a great suggestion to have my levels checked again. I go back for my final post-op check up with my doctor next week, so I will definitely mention it.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Lots of to you. Hopefully this is your month!

1st level at 11dpo was only 5, second was 25 at 13dpo. not sure if that is low, but they are doubling... no bleeding at all this pregnancy. With the ectopic, I bled heavily for about a week and my levels continued to rise

Doubling is definitely a great sign as is no bleeding! I bled heavily as well very early on (and then continued to bleed on and off throughout), so from the start I just "knew" something wasn't right. I'm crossing my fingers for you. When do you go again for the next round of HCG levels?
