books on parenting with newborns
I'm wondering if there are any good books out there for my husband to read about parenting and life with a newborn. He is so wonderful and will be the best dad but I find him getting more anxious as the big day comes closer and want to see if I can ease his anxieties a little with a book. Suggestions would be great! Thank you.

Imo no book can prepare you. It's all pure instinct.
I never even held a baby til my own. It comes naturally and I feel like if soemthing isn't exactly what a book say people panic.

I agree.
Many people offered advice in the beginning, but honestly nothing could have prepared me for having my own newborn.

I know it all can't be learned in a book but I do think it will help ease some of his anxieties to be able to read.

Happiest baby on the block
This book plus Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child helped me tremendously. My 1st baby was so colicky, no amount of instinct was enough. I had no idea what I was doing until I read those books....

But it will also create anxiety when your baby is doing things completely different than the book.

I agree that the vast majority is instinct. Every baby is different and you just have to learn your own child.
That being said, it never prevented me from Googling everything! And hey, isn't that why we're all on this site - to get and give advice to other parents?
The best book I read was Happiest Baby on the Block. I even revisited it with my second to remember what all the Ss were and how/when to wean off of them.

"the expectant father" - specifically written for the dad to be!
eta: the next book by this author is "the new father: a dads guide to the first year". my husband only had the other book but this one sounds like this one caters more towards after the baby is born. HTH

Re: books on parenting with newborns
i would opt for one of the funny books - DH got one as a gift (i will try to look at it when I get home tonight to give the exact title). I even preferred his book to any of the parenting books I got bc really they cannot prepare you.

This is exactly what I'm looking for! Thank you. I know a book doesn't solve everything but for my husband I think it will do the trick- he just wants to have an idea of what to expect knowing it can be completely different but I want to help him as much as I can so thank you!

Re: books on parenting with newborns
Best book i read was 'sippy cups are not for chardonnay' - a lighthearted and very honest look at how all over the place and difficult being a parent to a newborn is. It was geared towards the mom, but if you look it up the author may have a dad's version too
