Few Thanksgiving food questions
How far in advance can I make cornbread? Tuesday too soon? Should I make it Thanksgiving morning?
What make ahead veggies or stove top veggies can I make? Looking to heat on stove or in micro. Trying to free up oven space.
Finally- does anyone use their bbq to keep things warm while cooking other food in the oven? I can never get everything hot on the table at the same time!
TIA!

Few Thanksgiving food questions
We do honey glazed carrots. I don't have the exact recipe but it's butter and honey melted in a pan and we just boil the carrots until they are just soft enough to poke with a fork. We also do broccoli with garlic.....just drop broccoli in boiling water to soften slightly and get the bright green color and mix it with melted butter and saute garlic. Both easy to reheat in the microwave. The broccoli and carrots I do right before guests arrive. You can also do mashed sweet potatoes or butternut squash the night before. Cornbread I bake the night before and store in ziplock bags.

Re: Few Thanksgiving food questions
Go to rachaelrayshow.com they just did a whole segment on foods that you can make stove top for thanksgiving. It's the episode with Kelsey Nixon, they even showed how to use your crock pot for stuffing.

Re: Few Thanksgiving food questions
Once you pull the turkey out of the oven, you can put everything else in there to keep warm until ready to serve. My mom used to wrap the big pot of mashed potatoes in a beach towel, and they stayed pretty warm.

Do you have a slow cooker? You can use that to keep things like mashed potatoes or gravy warm.
The turkey can rest for like 45 minutes and still be hot, so during those 45 minutes you can use the oven to reheat things. You can also use the microwave to partially reheat things and the oven to finish it.
You can make great haricot vert in the micro - just steam for a couple minutes (checking and tossing them around - you want them crisp-tender), then toss with orange zest, evoo, s&p
