So Confused. Come in if you have Endo.
After almost two years of trying on our own, a diagnosis of unexplained infertility and only one unsuccessful IUI with LI IVF (it was exceptionally painful and insurance doesn't cover) I sought out Dr. Braverman. He did a sono and immediately suggested he saw evidence of endometriosis and I should schedule surgery.
I spoke with my Dr. at LI IVF and asked her why this wasn't identified with that practice. She said there is little evidence that surgery would solve my issues and she only recommends surgery in cases where there is a significant amount of pain, which I don't have. She said she looks for other indicators for endo and I didn't have any of them (chocolate cysts, evidence of damaged tubes with HSG). She said I could have mild endo but she said it is highly unlikely I have advanced endo.
So now I have no idea what to do. I don't want to subject my body to a surgery that will not do anything to improve my situation. Dr. B was so eager to get me scheduled for surgery that it gave me pause. I have been clinging to the hope that I will not have to go through IVF to get pregnant but even if I have the lap surgery it seems that I will have to move forward with IVF anyway. I am just looking for some thoughts from you ladies out there. At this point I am feeling so discouraged and depressed.

I would not rush to surgery with only one failed IUI. I hve endo....was only found after I had my DS. I have zero pain, super regular periods and had my DS without fertility treatments. I did 2 IUIs and was going to start IVF but got pregnant.
I have my own views on Dr B and that also definitely plays into my advice on saying don't rush to surgery.

Re: So Confused. Come in if you have Endo.
I have endo stage III and was discovered prior to TTC due to presence of endometrial cysts on my ovaries. I had surgery but still needed IVF to get pregnant. Maybe my situation was different because of how severe my endo is but I have heard of women being able to get pregnant after having surgery to remove the endo. I personally think the choice to have surgery was brought up to soon for you. If I was in your situation I would try IUIs again before having surgery. Why was the IUI painful?
