Boy Name Help
I'm a regular poster in hiding because we aren't telling anyone the name we eventually chose, not even LIFers! We can't agree on a name but somehow we've narrowed it down to basically 3 H names.
Hunter---I like this name more than DH does but it seems like it's getting way more popular recently. Are there a ton of Hunters you know?
Hudson---My DH like this name more than I do. I feel like it sounds "hard"-- but I'm also not totally against it. It's growing on me a bit.
Harrison--Is this name too long? We both don't like Harry as a nickname so would be calling him by his full name.
Can you give me the goods and the bads on each?

Re: Boy Name Help
DS is 10 and his name is Hunter. Don't know any others around his age.
Nephew is Hudson. He's 4. Again, don't know any others.

I chose Hudson! I like that it is different but not too out there.
Hunter- my nephew is Hunter but I don't know too many.
Harrison- I think people will call him Harry even if you don't. I don't think it's too long but I'm not a fan of Harry and feel like you can't control what nicknames are used.

I love Harrison - I have a friend with a 5 year old Harrison and everyone calls him by his full name.
Hunter is ok, I dislike Hudson. Makes me think of the dirty river.

Harrison was our second choice for a boy name, but like you, we didn't like the nickname Harry. I like Hunter over Hudson.

Re: Boy Name Help
I'm more of a fan of Hunter as a girl's name. Hudson and Harrison are both ones I like though. I picked Hudson only because it seems very uncommon. I don't think I've ever met anyone with that name.

Re: Boy Name Help
I vote Harrison. I think it's a little more classic and less trendy than the other 2.

Boy Name Help
Harrison is one of my favorite boy names ever! If DH didn't veto it, it would have been a top contender for either one of my boys.

Re: Boy Name Help
This was probably one of the more difficult polls for me! I voted Hunter but ONLY bc I personally know a dog named Hudson so I couldn't PERSONALLY choose that. Although, I DO really like it!! (Lets say it's my runner up!) Harrison will be shortened to Harry no matter what you do at some point in his life and reminds me too much of a last name than a first.

Re: Boy Name Help
I had a college buddy named Harrison and we never called him Harry... maybe because he had a roommate named Harry so we had to differentiate somehow. I do like it, but not as much as Hunter. Not a fan of Hudson for some reason.

I love Hudson. My coworker's son is named Harrison and everyone calls him "Harry", just something to think about.

Boy Name Help
Thanks ladies! This is really helpful. I think we agree that Harrison will become Harry, and though Harris is also an option, for some reason Harrison sounds better with our last name than Harris does.
I think we are really just stuck between Hunter and Hudson --- we don't have any people we know with either name so no name association for us. I'm starting to be more open to Hudson though. I also didn't realize how many girl Hunters there were! This is also good info--thank you all!

Re: Boy Name Help
I love all 3, bc those are literally my top 3 boys names...so funny that you posted them. We are team green so we aren't sure what we are having, but for boys I love each of them. I don't think you can go wrong!!!

Haha, both DH and I have swam in the Hudson so we actually like the Hudson River and love the Hudson Valley! But I do agree it can be pretty gross

Re: Boy Name Help
My son is almost 7. Everyone calls him Harrison. I absolutely love the name. When we originally put the name on our list, I thought we'd use Harry as a nickname, but Harrison suited him much better. I've never called him Harry.
