When do you start baking your Christmas cookies?
I was thinking of starting this week, but I'm worried they will get stale by Christmas. When does everyone else start them?

Re: When do you start baking your Christmas cookies?
I do one weekend worth of baking every year. It'll be this weekend this year. To keep cookies from getting stale, put them in an airtight container with either slices of bread or apple wedges. Works like a charm

Re: When do you start baking your Christmas cookies?
Usually the weekend before Xmas, certain cookies...........a day or two before. Since you don't use preservatives in homemade goodies I try to do them as close to the holiday as possible.

Same here. I also don't think cookies taste the same at all when they are frozen.

Re: When do you start baking your Christmas cookies?
My aunt makes cookies each year but she gives them as gifts to family/friends and she is making them this weekend. I would say if you are concerned about them getting stale you could make them the weekend before xmas.

that's new to me, apple or bread in the container. I always place bread in the brown sugar jar to keep it fresh.

Depends on what you make. A lot of doughs I make and freeze or even make cookies and freeze. They defrost and taste same!

Re: When do you start baking your Christmas cookies?
Thanks everyone! I think I'm going to start them this weekend and do the bread trick to keep them soft. DH and DS like to snack on them, so it's probably better to do them a little earlier anyway.
