when did you register?

Did you wait until you found out the sex, or did you start registering before that? I'm only 7 weeks, but a friend JUST announced at 12 weeks (yesterday), and already has her entire registry done.. is that normal? lol

Re: when did you register?

I registered for some of the big things- furniture, stroller/car seat, etc. at about 14 weeks. I just wanted to be able to take my time and do the research. Now I'm 21 weeks and I know the gender and I'm adding lots to it- I was looking at bedding today!

ETA: I know I'm going to have a shower- and though I don't know the date, the invites are going to go out at the end of January/early February. I figured let me just do it at my leisure when I have time since we'll also be moving in January and won't have as much time then.

Re: when did you register?

I wouldn't do it until later in pregnancy. Not that I'm superstitious but I remember starting to paint DD'S room at 13wks & feeling weird even about that. Lol. My registry I didn't touch till after anatomy scan. I think I started making lists earlier though as needed items would pop in my head. Either way, if you're not going gender neutral then you might as well wait

Re: when did you register?

If you're planning to find out the gender, there's really no point in doing it earlier. There's no harm in looking at stuff and getting ideas, but I wouldn't wait a bit longer to start. I mean, pregnancy is long too. Got to keep yourself occupied and have something to look forward to, besides baby of course!

Same. Not even for gender, more for peace of mind knowing all was well.

when did you register?

I think I registered at around 6 months. Didn't find out the sex and to be honest it took me so long to research everything I wanted and make decisions that I needed that extra time. I was clueless about baby stuff at 12 weeks

Re: when did you register?

I knew the sex at 14 weeks and registered around 20. If you aren't planning to find out the gender or plan to buy neutral I guess it doesn't really matter when you register. I know people who registered early and just changed things around as things progressed.

I am the kind of person who would create a registry pretty early. I like organization so creating a registry to keep track of things I anticipate needing is helpful. As I think of things I can just add them. The one thing I wouldn't do would be to advertise that I had a registry unless I was having a shower. It would just be to organize what I planned to need and if someone happened to find it and buy from it great!

Re: when did you register?

I'm superstitious and I was very nervous so I didn't register until I was 28/29 weeks.
