Other ideas are tinker crate. Last month Ds made a movable hand. this month it is creating a hand crank flash light. We also made a trebuchet.

What actual toys (no electronics) are your 7-8 year old boys getting for xmas
Board games( I got the diary of a wimpy kid game and bounce off), top trump cards, a perplexus, books(he likes the who was/what was books), a slack line for the backyard, nerf gun, and some sports jerseys and gear.

My 7 year old is very into finger skateboards, scooters and bikes so we got those with ramps. He also got the tony hawk skatepark, a pogo stick, skateboard with a ramp(for outside) and lots of nerf guns.

My 7 year old loves Legos and Star Wars so he's getting some of those. He already got snap circuits and games. DH is really into games and researches which are the best ones. I don't remember what he bought this year, but some of the games that my son loves are Ghost Blitz, Spot It, Tsuro, Chicken Cha Cha Cha and Jungle Speed. Most of these are available on Amazon.

Quixels! Both of my boys got these for Chanukah and are obsessed.
This is the only "craft" like things by boys will do.. Check them out..

My ex-MIL got my DS Star Wars Legos
I can't remember what my mom got them, but I know a TV (uh that's electronic) and a bunch of other stuff.
