Child Psychologist Recommendations Please

Hi ladies,

My 6 year old daughter is worrying me. She's very disrespectful, has tantrums, and is very angry. She says that kids are mean to her at school, although I know she has friends. She is also very intolerant of my 5 year old son. I know girls are not easy, but this is occurring too often.

Does anyone have advice or recommendations for a child psychologist or other helpful program? I've tried everything I can think of. People have said she'll grow out of it, but I'm not so sure. She seems to be getting worse as she gets older and I need to nip this in the bud.

I'm having the same exact problem with my 5 year old daughter. It's getting worse rather than better and everyone is saying that she's just being a girl and she is just strong willed and will outgrow it. Yet, they don't live with her and have no idea what it's like. DH and I are in therapy mostly because of her. I'm trying to get him on board with sending her to therapy. I have no advice, but good luck!

I'm a psychologist and from my experience I recommend the following:

Psychological Health Collaborative in Roslyn (Drs. Klass, Conte and Velting)

NYU Child Study Center in Lake Success

There are licensed psychologists (PhD, PsyD) at both.
