Re: Teachers
Kindergarten - I bought a warm, cozy blanket from Target and gave her that with a cute note that said: "For a Long Winters Night"
1st - I made batches of fudge brownie cookies and put them in a cute Xmas tin, added a bag of Starbucks holiday coffee on top, and wrapped it up in cellophane with a bow.
2nd - This year I am giving her a homemade "vanilla basket". I make my own vanilla extract and vanilla sugar so in the basket will be: a small bottle of vanilla extract, a small mason jar filled with vanilla sugar, 2 fresh vanilla beans in a glass vial, a small package of homemade vanilla bean sugar cookies, and a small vanilla scented candle.

I am thinking of going the giftcard route, along with hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works.
I'm staying away from baked items as I know she has a peanut allergy.

Re: Teachers
I'm a teacher and I have kids that are school aged...I have pretty much always gone the gift card route for my kids' teachers or bought a piece of jewelry or scarf if I know their style well...I personally don't give anything homemade because many teachers I know, myself included, don't eat anything that has come from a student's house, unless I know them personally.

Re: Teachers
I'm going to give gift cards! I know from working in daycare that teachers like gift cards best. I may get something cute to go along with it but mainly GC.

Re: Teachers
Last year there was a class gift- we all kicked in for a gift card so it was easy. The two years before, I made donations to the Newtown Memorial Fund in their honor. Both years I got very nice thank-yous in return.

Re: Teachers
Usually Gift Cards - I only give homade baked stuff to friends/family - I personally wouldn't eat anything if I didn't know the person it came from well -
My son's K teacher last year bonded w/ him over Hockey (her young son also played) and her family was Islander fans so at the end of the year he gave her a big bag full of Islander themed stuff - but unless I knew something like that, I'd stick to the Gift Cards

When I was teaching, one of my students gave me bottle of whiskey and a flask. I guess his mom thought I could use a drink after teaching her son!!

I usually do a gift card or contribute to the class fund then attach a little something extra with it.
I've done gift bags with assorted hand sanitizers (the teacher really appreciated this with all the germs)
Lolita wine glass - Teacher saying
I wouldnt' do anything homemade.
You can't go wrong with a gift card especially to places like Amazon or B&N

Re: Teachers
My son just started K this year but I'm curious is this the norm for Elementary school? Giving gifts to the teacher cause I can not remember for the life of me giving my teachers gifts in elem school ( def gonna have to ask my mom)..Do people continue this all through elementary school?

Re: Teachers
I usually do gift cards. I have done Vera Bradley cosmetic bags or umbrellas. Starbucks mugs with a gift card etc. I don't do anything edible because I personally don't eat stuff made by people I don't know.

Teachers
I would just do a gift card-they tend to be the most appreciated.
I've never eaten anything homemade my students give me-unfortunately it goes straight in the trash bc idk how clean they are, what goes into it, etc

I'm the mom who just give the amount asked by the class moms. We never could afford a lot extra.
