new years resolution-VENT
Not off to a good start!
where are all the gym promotions
I was all excited that after the new year there would be so many
I am limited with the time frame i can go due to my son and hubbys work schedule AND i am easily intimidated by some gyms-
I was waiting on NYSC
and some local places but NO promo
ok vent over

I feel like every gym has promos going on right now - Blink, Crunch, NYSC...they've all emailed me within the past week with specials. Are you on their email lists?

I belong to Lucille Roberts and I see them advertising on FB
Check their FB pages, Check Groupon and Living Social for local stuff
Also if you have a friend who belongs to a gym you are interested in. sometimes they can get a discount for you for referral

The LR in Rockville center by my has HORRIBLE parking- i know i sound like i am making excuses, but its HORRIBLE metered municiple parking
I check groupon daily :)

They were having a $20/month special at some point.
Also Planet Fitness and Retro are both having specials.
Honestly any gym will make you a deal. Walk into one near you and ask.

Have you ever been a member of NYSC? They offer alumni rates which are typically lower than their normal rates.
Like alli said - many locations offer $20/month now to compete with the cheaper gyms.
I just joined Retro - they opened a brand new one around the corner from my house and I like it so far. Planet Fitness was nice too but, I wanted something with classes.

I joined LA Fitness in September.- If you know you are definitely going to go, long term, they have a good deal - 2 year contract for $900, and then you get one free year - so it's really 3 years for $900, which comes out to $25/month. Unless something happens to me health-wise, I know I will make use of this, so for me it was worth it. And what I really like about it is that you can go to any LA Fitness - I have one close to work, one near home and one in between work and home, so there is always one I can get to. To me, that is one of the most important things about signing up for a gym - if it's not convenient it makes it so much harder to get there.

I wanted to join NYSC when they had the $20/month but mine just want up to $30 so I'm waiting. My luck the $30 will go back to $79

NYSC had a sign out front for a while about 20 dollar a month. not sure if thats still going on, but it was there for a while, at least in east meadow. if you're in nassau, there is also the awquatic center at eisenhower. pool, gym, sauna, hot tub. prices are reasonable, and you can take memberships, monthly, 3 month, 6 or yearly. they also have a punch card deal, so it comes out to like 5 dollars a visit and you get 20 visits. and it gives you full access to everything.

I am quitting my gym because I have so many options at home, but not sure how I'll swing running when it is freezing and icy out - some people just need the gym to workout away from the elements!

I also enjoy doing Jillian Michaels DVDs at home.
It's a great workout- incorporates strength training with some cardio and it's cheap and easy in bad weather!

This! So much more convenient if you're into videos in my opinion. I do know some people who say they need to leave their house, though.
