Bladder Stones in Male Cats

Anyone have experience with this issue with their cat? How is the aftercare once home from the vet? Any special diet he needs to be on?

My little guy had surgery yesterday and they removed a ton of little stones. They stated they were being sent for analysis to determine what kind of stones, then a plan of action can be made after for his aftercare.

My heart is breaking for him- our other cat is besides himself, he's roaming around looking for him around our apartment Chat Icon

Yes. My male cat has this condition. He did not ever need surgery as he never had a blockage,.but had several episodes of peeing outside the box, peeing constantly, straining to go, crying and peeing blood.
His xrays showed crystals.
Treatment is mainly diet. Only wet food. And prescription wet food from the vet specific to cats with this condition.
Also encourage drinking water as much as possible. (Easier said than done I know!)
If they determine his stones are something they can prevent with meds (like uric acid) they will put him on meds as well.

My male cat had crystals at one point too... No blockage, no surgery. He's been on Royal canin urinary so since that day... No issues since... This was about 5 years ago. Oh and we also got a water fountain for him to drink from.
