Inexpensive Excema Cream
Can you please recommend? My son's skin doesn't even feel like skin, but it looks ok. He has it on his face for the first time and this is the only place where it is visible and it looks so terrible!
Will this go away when he is older/teen?
Thanks!

For his face I would stick to aquafor or coconut oil. Other places, my favorite is cortisone10 ultra moisturizing cream. It works great. Most kids outgrow it within a few years I think but it my family a lot of the females still deal with it as adults. You can see the doctor for a steroid rx too.

This, and aquaphor on his face. Make sure you moisturizer within 3 min of getting out of the bath/shower. Also, only pat dry gently with a towel, don't rub.
It will more than likely go away as he gets older.

This saved my son until I could finally get an appointment with the dermatologist...we also use Vanicream and Vaniply (like Aquaphor)

Re: Inexpensive Excema Cream
We use Cerave Moisturizing cream in the white tub (not the lotion) and Aquaphor. We bathe her every night and apply lotion within a few minutes of getting out of tub. This is per her dermatologist and allergist recommendations. Her eczema has gotten so much better.
Eta: Costco now sells Cerave and it's a lot cheaper there than in a drug store or even Amazon.

My DD has eczema also. Some days are bad, some are ok. but we haven't settled on a cream yet. We try one then we hear its not good, we try another, then we hear its bad, etc...
Vanicream/Vaniply - heard this was good so we got it. Then we hear its bad (apparently there was a study where vaniply users had a slightly higher chance of cancer or something) Vaseline to keep the moisture in - but then we hear petroleum is bad to put on the skin (but didn't we all grow up using this?) aquaphor - used this, then we hear its not good because it also has petroleum and so on...
anyone have any thoughts on those issues?
currently we're using aveeno.

A high quality pro biotic helps. Also bone broth soup. Seals in leaky gut syndrome which can be a cause for eczema. I find coconut oil isn't working that well because I cannot get my daughter to sit still long enough for it to soak in.
I make my own cream with Shea butter, coconut oil, lavender and sacred frankensense essential oil. That seems to help a lot. There are many sellers that sell something similar on etsy. I could also show you how I make it myself. It's soooooo easy.
I stay away from petroleum and chemicals. Seems counter productive to me. And I agree lube them up after a bath to seal in moisture.

How long does it usually take for you to see results? My son has on his chin and I've been using aquafor but doesn't seem to be getting better?

Cetaphil Restroaderm.. My son has bad Excema on part of his legs, back, shoulders and tummy. Outside of a perscription cream, this works wonders.
