New puppy - advise
I got a new 8 week old puppy Saturday. We love her and she's been fitting in with the family great!
I take her out about every hour and she pees. She just started figuring out that she can poop outside too so finally getting her to go outside. At night she's been doing about 7 hours, which is great. DH takes her out last close to 11PM and I take her out at 6AM.
I am also crate training.
I want to start training her simple commands too. Any advise? I start with one word commands and repeating.

Awww congrats on the new addition!! I always find sit and lay easiest to start with. You can kind of use treats to guide their body. For instance, you tell her to sit and move the treat up- her nose follows the treat and her butt hits the floor. Just the opposite with lay- move it down and the body will follow. Then lots of praise and snuggles! Sometimes having them on a leash helps, too, since you can guide their body that way as well.

Exactly this. So as she learns you literally just have to get her attention and move your hand up - she will sit. Or down, she will lay. Without any voice command n
Also - big ones are stay and come. You will need the leash for this. Once she knows sit. You can work on stay by putting your hand flat - Palm towards her and saying stay. Once she is sitting and staying , you walk away backwards. Repeating stay. Once you want her to come, say come and tug leash towards you. a well learned stay command can keep her out of danger (running into street, etc)
Google is also your friend. Lots of YouTube videos on this
