Scared.......update 1/8

I went for my first mammogram and they sent me for an ultrasound. They found two nodules and now want to do a biopsy.....I have one scheduled on Wed. I never felt any lumps. I have never been so scared in my life. I have no family history but am overweight by 30 lbs. Can someone please give me some advice or what they have experinced. I have two young children and my husbands health is not that great. I have always been the rock but now I am terrified.....

My biopsy was on Wednesday and I am still sore. I got a call today saying the nodules were non cancerous. It's such a relief. Thank you for your support!

just breath, take one day at a time until you get the results. I know how scary it can feel.

I went through this twice. Negative both times but because ultrasounds are so sensitive now they almost have no choice but to send you for a biopsy.

First time I wont lie it was uncomfortable, i think it was really my nerves doing me in, and perhaps the radiologist was not great. This was in a private radiology suite.

Second time was at Mount Sinai in the city and different experience, maybe because i knew what to expect and I also think the radiologist was more skilled. I also think it was better because it was in a hospital center vs the private suite. I don't know it could all have been in my head.

They give you an ice pack for afterwards.

Best of luck, I know it's worrisome but try to keep a cool head, as pp said odds are in your favor Chat Icon

Same here - had to go for 2 different types of biopsies (one on each side) at 2 different times. They are definitely overly cautious and will send you for a biopsy if they have even a tiny concern that something doesn't look exactly right. I think they usually "see something" when you have dense breast tissue, which is not uncommon, especially in younger women. Both times for me, the results were negative. I know it's hard, but try not to stress about it. Chances are way more in your favor that everything will be fine.
