Good Camera for vacation, parks, etc
I hate my cell phone camera. We have a DSLR, but it's heavy and I feel like I have to always carry it if we leave the stroller (like at a theme park). Looking for recommendations for a new camera - something that takes great pics, but is pretty compact. We have a small camera I've had nearly ten years and it just doesn't seem to focus well anymore.

I don't have it but have been eyeing it for a while and will probably get it soon - Sony A5000. The reviews are fantastic and the quality of the pics are up to par with the DSLR's.
Right now we have a waterproof camera which we take on vacation and it's been a great investment but the quality of the pics aren't the greatest.

Sony RX100, any of the models (there is the original, and then II, III, and the newest is IV). A truly pocketable camera with a big 1" sensor. Takes fantastic pictures and is great for vacations.

Agree the Sony RX100 seems awesome. I use a Panasonic LX7 when I'm not using my Nikon D7000 DSLR. Its small and takes great photos as long as you live with the limitations of a small camera with an attached flash.
The below is a good review of the more expensive advanced cameras.

Re: Good Camera for vacation, parks, etc
My parents bought us this camera one year for Christmas and it's been great for us.
We take it everywhere as a spare camera - then we realized we use the photos from it more frequently than the other cameras we bring.
Because it is waterproof, kidproof, fallproof - we take it so many places where our other cameras make us nervous. Rafting, hiking, camping, swimming, the beach, on the boat, on bike rides, etc.. It's a great camera. Kodak Camera
