Need something very good for DH
I need a really really good gift, experience, something for DH. In the past month we got some pretty sh*tty infertility news DH took hard. He also had to quit smoking cold turkey from that day. He enjoyed his cigarettes as bad as that sounds he does miss it and talks about it all the time. And then his car, which he loved and was a treat to himself a few years ago has been acting up and ultimately we traded it in and had to take the loss. He now has my 2012 civic and I got a CR-V and he's not a fan of the civic. I feel like everything he enjoyed is gone and it's killing me. I just feel so bad for him, like all he enjoyed is gone. What can I do for him? He loves cigars and ordered himself some this week but won't have one until he does his repeat semen analysis in March. He LOVES beer but won't drink because he feels it will make him want a cigarette more. I have never felt so guilty- I want a baby (he does too) but I'm the one that went to a RE thinking it was all me with the issue and we find out its him too. I wanted the CR-V and encouraged the trade in. I just want him to have something. And I'm at a loss.

Need something very good for DH
Maybe go away for a weekend and just relax and refresh. I always feel like that's the best remedy.
Tough to think of a gift without knowing his hobbies and interests.
Hope you both get the news your looking for!!!

A nice, relaxing getaway together without the stress of every day life would be so perfect!!
A few months ago I took my DH up to Lake Placid and we stayed at the Whiteface Lodge, it was GORGEOUS!!!.........and romantic. The lodge is absolutely stunning, the grounds were beautiful, and the rooms were huge and immaculate. We had an amazing time!! There is a Groupon deal for it right now too!! You should check it out!

DH and I have had a rough year due to similar reasons. We are going away next www to take a break and regroup. I tried to pick a place that had things we both love so we could really take a break. Hope it's a better year!

I agree - go away somewhere together.
If that's not something you can do because of schedules, then tickets to a game or concert he really wants to go to and dinner? Or a local spa and dinner?

Lake Placid is GORGEOUS!!!! Its such a cute little town with lots of shops and great places to eat. Plus you can visit the Olympic Center. Highly recommend Adirondack Steak & Seafood.

How about tickets to see a comedian or a comedy show? have a nice night out in the city?
Also, not sure what your male factor issues are but my husband had very bad abnormal morphology and we conceived our first and third with no problems at all. Our second was a lot more difficult and we ended up doing IVF, but I believe morphology and sperm counts do change over time. Don't be completely discouraged if that's what it is.

Thank you so much everyone for your comments and suggestions! We have never been to lake placid but I'll look into it! I'll also see about tickets to a show I'll have to see what's out currently! Thank you everyone!

I'm going to agree with the ladies who suggested a getaway. We went through infertility as well and through the terrible road, I have fond memories of some really kickass vacations we went on between cycles and whatnot.
Also, have you guys have any pets? If not, have you ever talked about getting a cat or a dog, or something similar? While going down the infertility road, we adopted two of my four cats, and they were really the best medicine. It really helped to have something small and basically helpless to nurture and take care of. Now we have our DS and a house full of cats and I wouldn't have it any other way. Of course-- don't just spring it on him, a pet should always be carefully considered by everyone living in the house!

Yes- I am coming to realize a vacation may be what we need- and I think his choice of destination and planning will be so good for him especially all the sacrificed and changes he made this past month. And yes we do have a fur baby- we adopted her the day after Christmas!!! I was looking more for a dog at the time than DH but we both love her!! She definitely filled a void I was having struggling with the beginning of our infertility journey

If he likes to drive how about one of those Race Car experiences? They do all sorts of packages from ride alongs to getting to drive.
And I agree about getting away. We always went to Adult Only places (resorts or B&B's) or traveled when school was in session to avoid families/kids.
