My dog has an eye infection

My pit-boxer mix has an infection in both eyes. The vet prescribed a steroid and antibiotic ointment. She seemed to get better but now it's worse. Could it be allergies? I guess I have to take her back to the vet.

My collie mix has terrible allergies and he was constantly getting ear and eye infections. I noticed it started in his ears and then spread to his eye from him scratching his itchy ears. Now, we clean his ears constantly and give him allergy medication (generic brand claritin) during the spring/summer when it seems to be at it's worst. It's really made a difference, but we didn't start this routine until it was recommended by our vet 3 years ago. I forget what it's called, but it's a type of allergy that just gets worse with age. We did the same to clear up the infection- steroids and ointment- and it usually took quite some time to come back, even before being diagnosed with allergies. I'd go back to the vet and see what they say.
