PRK eye surgery recovery
Anyone recently have PRK instead of LASIK? What was your recovery like? I heard that the technology is better than it was but recovery is still uncomfortable.

PRK eye surgery recovery
I had it done about 8 years ago. My vision was perfect, but it felt like I had dust in my eyes for about 3 days. After that good as new.

Re: PRK eye surgery recovery
My SIL had it done a month or so ago. Surgery was on Friday and she was told to take it easy over the weekend. She told me all the details of the recovery - I believe the first day she was to keep her eyes closed/covered and rest.
I have a consult in 2 weeks!!

Re: PRK eye surgery recovery
I had it done a month ago. I had really bad Vision before. I can see without glasses but the blurring as still goes in and out and I'm not seeing that great. To be honest I had no idea the recovery time would be this long. I figured in a month I would be seeing almost perfectly.

PRK eye surgery recovery
My friend is having this done. Her doctor was upfront with her and said at first you're going to be like wtf did I do. She said it'll take 1-3 months until she has perfect vision.

Re: PRK eye surgery recovery
I did it last year. It's a long and frustrating recovery. I was in bed in a dark room, unable to tolerate light for the first 3 days, but my results were great and I would do it again.

PRK eye surgery recovery
My friend had it done 5 years ago and it wasn't a great recovery - she was basically blind for about a week. I asked her about it recently and she's happy she did it b/c she's happy now, but not so much with the recovery.
I had LASIK done May of last year and I honestly regret having it done. I still have issues now (blurry vision in the morning, hard to focus on things in the distance, and dry eye enough that I've been on prescription eye drops for 5 months). Hopefully it all corrects itself in a few more months but I would have thought things would be better after 9 months.

Re: PRK eye surgery recovery
I had it done in September. The third day for some reason was the absolute worst- had to be in a dark room. I went back to work the 5th day and it was better but my vision was still very blurry- it did get progressively better.
I still have to use eye drops like 4x a day though.
Even with all that, I'd do it again!

Re: PRK eye surgery recovery
My ex did it 4 yrs ago and his recovery was rough and lasted at least a month. He would still tell you its the best thing he has ever done. I had Lasik done a week before him and was fine in a couple of days.

Re: PRK eye surgery recovery
Any reasons why u're preferring prk over lasik? I used to work at an ophthalmologist office and a lot of the patients preferred lasik instead of prk unless they weren't a candidate. I had lasik done with them and the recovery wasn't too bad, I mean I was super sensitive to light for like 2 days max, I also remember tearing sooo much too. But I started seeing improvement in my vision almost immediately and up to this date my mission is 20/15, it's been almost 10 yrs.

Re: PRK eye surgery recovery
I had lasik less than a month ago. Really no pain or discomfort. The most annoying part was wearing the silly goggle/glasses to sleep and remember to use the eye drops.
I definitely have halos at night and it's harder to see at dusk, but they say that should get better over the next few months.
It's amazing how quickly you get used to not putting contacts in and out!
