How do you know when
The baby moves?
At my appointment last week, they asked if I had felt the baby move and said that it should be happening within the next month.
I'm 17w tomorrow.
How do you know when the baby moves? What does it feel like?
We have an at home doppler and found that baby moved from one side to another but I felt nothing.

How do you know when
The best way I can describe it, is that it feels like little pops in your belly. Like pop corn popping.

Re: How do you know when
This is your first? 17 weeks seems early to me. I didn't feel her move until about 20 weeks and even then I wasn't sure. It was more of a rumble or pop that might be something, but might not be- I felt like it could've just as easily been gas or hunger. At my 20 week anatomy scan I could SEE her moving on the screen, she didn't stop the whole time! But I felt nothing. I didn't for SURE feel her move until about 22 weeks. And even then it was pretty sporadic. Now at 31 weeks, my stomach feels like this:
ETA: Another way I can describe those early movements are like when you have a muscle twitch or jump in your leg or your arm or something- like that, but in your belly.

Re: How do you know when
This is #3 for me too. I first noticed movement really early this time......around 15 weeks.
With my first two kids, it was much later - after 20 weeks. It might even been closer to 25 weeks with my first.
Popcorn popping is a really close description. It also feels like tiny little nudges or pokes if that makes sense.
There is such a wide range of when you will feel the baby for the first time. The position of your placenta also makes a huge difference as well.

Re: How do you know when
With my first, I didn't feel anything until like 20 or 22 weeks. It kind of felt like a fluttering. It will make you stop and think "what the heck was that?". You will know.

You will know when you feel it. I didn't feel my first until 25 weeks (I had an anterior placenta).
My second I didn't feel until 19-20 weeks.

Yes this is my first - baby moves a TON when we are there for sonograms so I know theres movement, i guess i just dont feel it yet.
I'm very gassy - burping to be clear hahaha - so i'm afraid i wont be able to tell the difference. i just dont want to miss that first feeling.
Hahaha, i'm sure it feels like a royal rumble match in there, baby is running out of room

I know the feeling! Every appointment they kept telling me she was moving like crazy and I was feeling badly that I couldn't feel anything. I was so anxious to feel it. Then when I finally felt it, I was so anxious for everyone else to feel it. And that took even longer! I bet you'll be feeling something really soon, whether you realize it or not, and then once you do, you'll think "How did I EVER think this was something else?!"

How do you know when
I have an anterior placenta which just means that my placenta is on top. This makes it harder to feel baby so I didn't start feeling him move until about 21 weeks. At first it felt like little taps against my bladder (He's pretty low) and I could see why people called it flutters! It's almost a little wormy lol. They got stronger as time went on and now I'm 24 weeks and it feels like bubbles popping and much further up by my belly button! You can finally see them from the outside too which is pretty cool!!!

How do you know when
I first realized I was feeling movement around 20 weeks. One night when I couldn't sleep my stomach felt weird. I was laying there trying to figure out what I ate to make my stomach act all crazy and it dawned on me that it was the baby moving. It felt like a combination of flutters and gas bubbles. I had probably felt movement before then, but just never realized what it was.

Re: How do you know when
My 1st I felt at 22 weeks, 2nd at 21 weeks, and 3rd at just under 20 weeks. Don't be alarmed if you don't feel anything yet.

Re: How do you know when
With my first pregnancy it felt like flutters. Like a butterfly was in my belly and fluttering around and it was a feeling I never had before.
My pregnancy with my son, it went from those light flutters to (at 22 weeks) feeling like a jab from the inside, almost like a poke but from the inside out.
I feel like you never really know it's the baby until you start feeling it more consistently and "learn" what it feels like. The first flutter or jab happens so fast that by the time you stop what you're doing, it's over!

This exactly!!
I didn't even know, I told my mom I thought I had gas or something and she laughed at me
This time around I knew early on. I'm almost 18 weeks and this baby was having a party last night.

For me.. it felt like a little fishy swimming around. That's the easiest way for me to describe it.
